Any details on "Dine with Shamu"?

Does he do tricks while you eat? How close do you sit to the tank? Can guests get closer after the meal? Is the food comparable to a WDW buffet?

I went back in 2003 but I'll try to answer.

The food was okay, I can't remember how it compared to WDW buffet. I actually think it may have been a little better. The buffet is smaller though. You go into a small room so it was a little cramped. Its not spacious like the buffets at WDW. But they had a good selection of food and desert and a section of kid favorites.

All the tables are right next to the pool so everyone is pretty close up. I believe all the tables are perpendicular to the pool. There isn't really a need to get any closer. They will have Shamu do some tricks close to the people as well but no one got wet. I actually missed a good portion of the show while taking my oldest to go to the bathroom. It must have been funny though because I could hear the laughter! Oh well!

I tried to find a picture on my computer of the seating but I really only found videos. I'll keep looking and if I find one I'll try to figure out how to post it!

Here is a picture from my seat. The whale would swim around the tank and do jumps in the center. Also in the picture you can see the platform where the handler did stuff with him.

I have dinner with Shamu booked in March. What time is the dinner? I couldn't find any information on it on their website.

In the past they wait to announce the time for the seatings for Dine With Shamu until about a week before the date. Depending on the demand and time of year, there can be one or two seatings.

Thanks! How will I find out? Will I just have to inquire at Guest Services when we enter the park?

Your table is reserved on the day you make your reservation so call early. We got the best table - 1st row center and shamu was in touching range. The food is very good, but it is easy to forget to eat.

I bought tickets from a link on the Sea World web site about 2 weeks ago for March 24th. Did that "reserve" our table or is there something else I'm supposed to do?

Ours was reserved at that time. The next best table was yours. I would call just to be 100% sure.

You have to check in at guest services the day of your Dine with Shamu to get your passes to the meal. They'll tell you then what time your sitting is. We did call SeaWorld dining about a week before our Dine and they told us then what time our seating was. It just made it a little easier to plan our day in advance.
