I'm a big baby about going to the dentist so I thought I would ask here before I call the dentist. I wanted to ask a question about tooth aches -I've heard that sometimes your sinuses can effect your teeth. If I have a tooth ache that is sinus related do I go to my reg Dr or to the dentist?

It is wierd because it started with some aching on my lower left gums where my wisdom tooth use to be - thought I had pop corn haul there so I flossed the back tooth more throughly - that area feels better but now my top left back molar ( next to where my wisdom tooth was) is now throbing and aching. Is is only on the left but I find it wierd that at first it was the bottom now it is the top. I've been having some sinus problems so I thought maybe that might have something to do with it.

Thanks!!

Could be your sinuses, I have problems with all of my teeth on one side feeling loose and achey when my sinuses are swollen because they press on the nerves. You can't be sure though without an x-ray. Have you taken anything for your sinuses? I can usually tell right away if I take a sinus pill, they feel better pretty quickly. A dentist can take a panoramic x-ray and see if there is anything with your teeth and they can also see your sinuses and tell if they are pressing. Fortunately for me I work for an oral surgeon so I can just hope in the maching and have the tech take an x-ray for me for free! I recommend finding out soon though with the holidays coming up it's hard to get an appointment. Good luck, I know your pain!

Thank you Honeypooh. I did take some Sinus med and advil and it started feeling better but it slightly still achy so I guess I will need to call and get in for an xray to see what is up. Thanks!

I went to my dentist once for a toothache and he told me there was nothing wrong with my tooth, but that i had a sinus infection..the swelling presses on the nerves of the teeth.
I went to the dr, got some antibiotics and the pain went away. That was years ago and I never had a problem with that tooth afterwards.

Thanks JVL1018 - that is what I have heard about sinus infections - i don;t feel like i have one but they have been feeling full - I was just wondering if I should go to Dr or Dentist. I'm calling the dentist now to talk with someone there.
