njsweet, can you explain a bit more about the zune marketplace? I got my ds the 16 HD Zune and he asked for the 1 month marketplace gc because it says download all the songs you can for one month. After that month are you saying his zune will be empty? I have an older model ipod and I rarely buy music. I thought everyone used limewire these days.
This is taken from the Zune website:
"Music you buy using the song credits included with your Zune Pass is yours to keep Your Zune Pass must be kept current, however, to continue to play the music downloaded as part of your subscription. Zune Pass downloads automatically expire if you don't renew your Zune Pass."
I believe you get 10 song credits per month, songs you can keep. Those other songs that have been downloaded will expire and be wiped from the Zune. That averages out to $1.50 a song, pretty pricey.
Also from the site:
"Do unused song credits carry forward to the next month?
No. But for as long as your subscription is active, the moment any unused song credits expire, you'll automatically have 10 fresh credits ready to go!"
So, if you don't buy 10 songs that month, you lose out. I know around here we won't buy songs for several weeks. Amazon offers tons of free songs, and Walmart does a free song every week. I know Zune may also offer free songs weekly (not sure). Songs purchased from Zune can only be played on Zune *unless you burn them onto a cd and reinstall them*. Not good if you have different players (iPod, Zune, etc.) in the house.
Edited: stay away from Limewire.
