We just returned from the Gaylord Palms and we did take advantage of the "Discover Florida Package". It was FANTASTIC!!! The breakfast Buffet was wonderful. We ate there every morning of our vacation (breads, Crossants, fruit, a chef making omlettes , waffles, bacon, potaos etc..someone told us it is usually $22.00 per person, but I never checked). We ate breakfast and then skipped lunch and ate dinner...we were not hungry after that wonderful buffet. When we checked in they had an folder waiting for us with 2 Disney passes and 6 breakfast certificates (one for each of us for our 3 day stay). The tip was already on the cerificates so we didn't even have to pay that!! The hotel was wonderful!! We were sad that we would NOT be staying in Disney this trip but it was a spur of the moment trip. We ended up really loving the hotel. We had dinner there one night and it was also a buffet. They had breads, cold salads potato, bean, couscous, pasta, seafood, etc) veggies, rice, 3 kinds of potatos(garlic, mashed and one other), tossed salads, ham, a chef carved prime rib, and pork and then a seafood buffet (mussels, clams, calamari , shrimp and other things, we don't eat seafood so we didn't really pay to much attention). For dessert what else...a dessert buffet that had carrot cake, flan, choc cake, Ben and Jerry's Ice cream, make your own sundees, make your own strawberry shortcake, and fresh fruit and puddings. In the "fort" in the atrium they have some of the treasure taken off the wreck of the ATOCIA (AP??). It was really interesting to see something from the 1600's. The gift shop had gold bars and coins from the actual wreck. They cost thousands of dollars if you wanted to buy them. DH got to hold and emerald worth 140,000.....and a gold bar worth more. It was a great hotel. Good luck. If you do stay you will enjoy it!! We stayed in the St. Augistine section 7th floor beautiful view. If you have kids the Everglades looked like fun. They blow mist over the water and they have mechanical
crocs in the water with sounds.......Have fun!!
