Any creative shadow box ideas?

I just recently came into posession of my grandpa's and his brother's army medals, achievements, discharge papers, dogtags etc. Does anyone know of any good way I could frame these with a shadow box? Should I take it to a professional? I'd like to put them out somewhere in my house for display. My uncle was awarded the purple heart in WWII. I'd like for people to see that and all these things I just got-it's pretty neat stuff.

Perhaps go by JoAnn's or a scrapping store to find pages appropriate to place as a backdrop. Then, if you've got photos of grandpa and great uncle in their uniforms, place them with the medals in the shadowbox.

I just bought three shadowboxes as gifts and I'll be doing something similar with my boy's scouting things at the end of each year.
