Any computer wizes out there? error in MSi

I am SO fed up with Mcaffee! I keep getting a notice to update our virus scan, each time I do it downloads fine and then says error in updating file in msi database. I waited online yesterday for one and a half hours and was told by the tech to delet the patch.err file . Big deal same thing happened twice today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
