Any cloth diapering mommies here?

But I did once buy two embroidered wool covers with Phish and Grateful Dead on them. And then DH dried one of them....:scared: Thankfully it only went down in size perhaps one size worth, it didn't become a doll cover. But he was not allowed to do dipe wash any more after that!

Someone in my house (not sure if it was dh or not) washed ANd dried my (oh, ds's) beautiful Luxe Baby Wool yoga shorts. I swear I almost cried. They were L/XL and shrunk down to the size of a newborn and looked just awful.

I LOVE cute dipes. I don't really have a ton of super cutes b/c I have a boy but I love cute ones and have no problem with that!! I have a couple of embroidered Preston Pants that I LOVE>

that sounds like us- didn't want to cart the dirties around in the heat or spend a lot of time washing. The laundry rooms are busy enough anyhow without adding CD wash to it. I also have twins so our CD laundry is pretty hefty

I bet it's because DL was built in 1955 when CD was normal. Probably back then it was just what was done! Is this what you are talking about?

That's it!!! I think it's so cool!!

If I had gone to WDW when my dd was in diapers I would have brought the cloth diapers.

When my son arrived he peed up a storm and HATED to be wet...and I was going through literally like 15 diapers an HOUR because of the constant pee and the dislike of the wet diapers...so I used both cloth and 7th Generation (nonbleached) disposables. I used them all through his diapering days this way. And when we went to WDW in Dec 2006 when he was still wearing dipes just to poop in, I used the 7th generation sposies. I honestly really didn't want to be bothered washing poopy diapers on vacation!! :laundy:

I CD'ed all 5 of our kids. I don't think we saved as much as we should have because we did change from Kushies, to Bumkins, then to Fuzzi Bunz, then I finally found AIO's from a Canadian company I absolutely love. I have also sewn AIO's. There's a whole CD'ing following who really get into it.

I do frequent diaperdecisions, but not as much now because my 2yo is getting potty trained. Early potty training is one of the great benefits of using cloth.

I just use 7th Generation or Tushies while on vacation. If I was a DVC member or if I stay at a condo or rental with a w/d then I try to CD, but it's too chaotic for me because I have 5 kids.

With DS I'm so glad I never had to figure out if I could really buy a ruffle-bottom enhanced FuzziBunz dipe. :)

I was able to resist so much better because I had a boy. I spent about $250 on my 16 FBs and that's about it. (We didn't start until he was 6 months old and he will potty-train out of mediums at this point. If, God willing, he ever potty trains.) I got four super cute covers when I was first starting but found CPFs/covers didn't work as well for him. Which was sad because I love my Darth Vader cover. :rolleyes1 I really, really wanted to buy one of the JamTots embroidered FBs but never did.

My sister and friend both have girls and I've been trying to talk them into CDing just for the sole reason that I would get to buy them such cute diapers. I almost convinced my sister, but then she was watching an aqua and orange FB auction on eBay! :sad2: I could give her aqua and orange.

Are the Swaddlebees adjustable on the sides? I like FBs because, well, he used to be on the smallest setting and now he's on the second to last snap on the same diaper. Also, how are the leg holes? Russ has chicken legs, and we found that FB seconds actually have tighter legs for the most part. Regular FB leg holes are almost too big.

I don't know why I'm asking. I bought gender neutral FB colors in case there's a next baby. :rolleyes1 (Although, I need some smalls so I can start from birth if there is a next one.)

Swaddlebees fit like a bikini, with a high leg. DS inherited DH's sumo legs, so I thought the high cut was nice because I could fit it onto his trim belly, but there was room for his legs. I like to *think* it would work on thinner legs. And yes they are adjustable.

Here is a picture of same size FB and SB (both fit him) on top of each other.

Their trimness more spread out (foot and hand on either end of the SB):

You've been very budget about your CDing, and it's impressive! But just in case he grows taller and it still in the small snaps, and if he keeps balking at PTing, you might also look into the petite toddler in FBs It isn't really any wider than the mediums, it's not for a heftier kiddo, it's for a trim toddler who is too tall for the medium rise. DS never fit very well in his large FBs, but then I got one PT, and wished I had gone with that instead of larges.

Well and then I found SBs...:upsidedow

We bought plain white AIOs in a package with enough diapers and sizes for newborn to potty trained, hand made by work-form-home Mommies at http://clothdiaper.com/

We did recently start using disposables at night as I was changing DS 4-5 times when he turned 16mos. Even the disposables have to be changed 2-3 times (unless I want to wash wet sheets and jammies every day)!

Just last night we decided to try a Pull Up overnight, and it works better than either the disposables I have tried or cloth. Didn't have to change him, and he didn't wake up with soaking clothes and sheets. Supposedly he is too young at 19 mos for them, but they worked!

Oooh, the SBs do look a lot trimmer!! Good to know for next time. I considered switching him up to PTs earlier this year, as the FBs are starting to get really low in the rise, but... I think he will potty train soon - he LOVES to sit on the potty and read his potty books and watch us potty (and especially loves flushing!) - he just hasn't figured out the whole "how to make himself pee when on the potty" part. I think next month we're going to pick a week to stay home and go naked until he figures it out.

I figure when he's done, I can sell my FBs for about $100-150 on eBay and use the $$ on diapers for the possible next baby. And God help me if it's a girl. :rotfl:

You can no longer sell used diapers on ebay. The auctions will get pulled. Try selling at one of the diapering boards FSOT sections (diaperpin, diaperswappers).

Seriously?? What the heck?? Oh well. I'm a member of various mommy boards and can sell them there, or join a diaper board.

Yeah, if you search cloth diapers on ebay, you'll notice there is nothing used left. Occasionally, one gets posted and it almost always gets pulled. Good luck selling!

I knew they had been trying to do that, calling them used underwear. Yeah, 'cuz a baby's bottom is exactly as icky as an adult's bottom...:sad2:

I dropped out of MDC awhile back, and I imagine it's been talked about there, but I just haven't been there!

I just have to say that when I posted my original question, I wasn't even sure if I'd get one response. I am so glad to see this thread still going and so many moms feeling the cd love!! :hippie:

so what have you decided to do?

We are in the beginning stages of planning a Disney trip in Sept of 08. I am thinking that my 10 month old will still be in diapers when we go. I am trying to decide if I take my cloth or if we do sposies for a week. If you took your cloth, did you wash while you were there? Was the time/cost worth it? How many CDs did you pack?

I've travelled with CDs before, but we've always had free washers and certainly weren't as busy as you'd be at Disney. Plus we drove... not sure about flying with a suitcase full of dirty CDs.

We exclusively cloth diapered until DS was completely potty learned. We used them on vacation, too. We did wash while in WDW (and everywhere else we vacationed). We've always taken 10 diapers on Orlando vacations and that worked out great since we also practiced EC. Without EC, I would have easily gone through 20+ diapers a day for a newborn, but I would just take 2 days' worth for your nearly 2 year old next year and plan to wash every other night. Good luck!

That's true about ebay. I don't know what I did or why this happened, but when I sold my batch of Fuzzi Bunz diapers a few months ago, my auction didn't get pulled. :confused3

I have also been successful selling CDs on Craigslist and on MDC.

As you can see from the picture (from 2006) my kids are old now. I used cloth diapers from 1990-1992 and then again 1994-1995 then went to disposable. I commend you!!!!!! I feel I contributed to the enviornment all those years, but it is not easy. Eczema on my hands, laundry everyday...but I still feel it was worth it.....MY SINCERE HANDS UP TO YOU...WAY TO GO!!!:yay: :laundy:

we cd - usually motherease but a smattering of other stuff. i think tho that we will use sposies for our 10day trip because cross border flying w dirty dipes doesn't appeal and i would order my sposies from an online grocery store that delivers to WDW to make our luggage requirements. I feel a tad guilty but that's the plan. Sorry about the typing - had baby on one arm for the first bit. Now he's flipping through my WDW planning notebook and quite happy!
