Hi,

Sorry not about Disney but wasn't sure where to post this!

Ive booked 3 out of my 4 hotels now, only New York to go! Going for 3 nights before we hit orlando, never been New York before, can anyone recommend any hotels for around £100 per night, decent location (i.e. midtown or upper west side). I doubt we'll be in the room for much more than sleeping so just somewhere clean and safe to lay my head!

Any ideas??

T.I.A.

I haven't stayed here yet, but I have booked the Comfort Inn Manhattan for October. I found it in the Virgin brochure, it seems to get pretty good reviews on Trip Advisor, everyone mentions the central location, and most importantly breakfast is included!!!

We are recently back from NYC, we stayed at Skyline not sure how much a night as we booked a package. It was clean, spacious rooms in a fairly decent location (a couple of blocks from Times Square) & the staff were friendly

I have recently booked the Roosevelt Hotel and got 3 nights at end of July for £324 - this is way cheaper than it should have been as it is a 4 star in a central location - it was through Travelzoo on one of their Top 20 deals and was around 60% off plus an upgrade to Superior room.

The offer is no longer advertised on Travelzoo but I have just tried the code and it still works - valid for stays upto end of August I seem to recall. Not sure if I am allowed to post the code so if you are interested, PM me and I will give you the details.

With NY its just a matter of waiting for the right deal, offers come along but you have search and search.
We stayed at Crowne Plaza Times square, superb, our room had a view of the square and out towards Empire State building but just checked your dates, £252.83/night :scared1:

Would love to go back to NYC but I won't pay the hotel prices.

WOW you got a great deal there!! I get the travelzoo deal emails and remember that deal was up til the end of august only unfortunately , fingers crossed something similar will come out soon for september!

Thanks for the other replies, will check those hotels out now! Why are new york hotels so ridiculously expensive compared to anywhere else!!?? :confused3

This one sounds quite promising, found it for about £350 for the 3 nights on bookng.com, not bad esp with breakfast inc!

Would love to stay there! Did you get a travelzoo deal on it when you went?

Hotel St. James

It is in the most AMAZING location, right on times square really cheap and right next door to a great deli.

Would recommend it to everyone

Another option would be to stay over the Hudson and get the water taxi back and forward. I often stay at the Sheraton Lincoln harbour in Weehawken which is $179.00 pn this Sept.

This does not suit everyone but its just another idea to consider.

Hi

I have stayed at the Waldorf on two occasions and it's not as expensive as you think if you book in advance. Once I booked through the airline that I'd booked the ticket with - BA and once through lastminute. Both had excellent rates but the BA one was cheaper.

Hi,

weve stayed at the Roosevelt twice now, fantastic location within walking distance of all the Midtown sights. The only downside to it is the rooms a quite small, but most NY hotels are the same.
As wayne said ' NY is about waiting for the right deal! i booked Hilton Gardens Times square for my Mum a couple of months ago and it was £550 for 5 nights. i think the last time i checked it was about £170 a night:eek: Deals always come and go and travelzoo is always the best place to start checking.

have fun NY is one of our favourite get aways. (the wife likes a good shopping spree:banana:

we always stay at the waldorf too - not at all as expensive as people think..

but don't tell anyone that - keep it for us :goodvibes

For DD's trip, i booked her a room on expedia at the very last minute....
i got her a double room at the milford plaza for $150/night (on the milford plaza website, the same room was $300 for that night)..
but that was at the very last minute (i booked it for her while she was flying to new york  )

:thanks: Thanks for the heads up about Travelzoo - I've just reserved a New York hotel room at a decent discount for our trip in June :disrocks:

I've stayed at the Hotel Pennsylvania twice. In a great location, it's right opposite Madison Square Garden (concert, ice hockey, basketball venue), underground around the corner, 2 or 3 blocks from Macy's and the Empire State Building and is about a 20 minute walk up to Times Sq. Cost me $99 a night which was one of the cheaper options (Manhatten is expensive, you won't find many more for less) and my hotel needs were much the same as yours... cheap, clean and somewhere to put your head. We were out at 8am and didn't come back till 10 at night... and that was in freezing cold November. Booked through Hotels.com the first time then direct with the hotel website the next. Enjoy, you'll love New York.
