Any chatter about new Magic Key sales reopening?

I am guessing the answer is no, but has anyone heard any news suggesting if/when new sales will resume?

Nothing.

Best guess is they will reopen sales after the holidays, sometime in January.

Thanks.

That would really suck, as we are going during the holidays with hopes of upgrading then. However, much like I assume they paused during summer to avoid folks doing that, it would make sense for the same reason during the holidays...

My wife actually wants to wait till after the holidays but I have never been during the holidays. So, we have been planning on going then. Perhaps we postpone...

The holiday stuff stays up until like Jan 8. You could plan a trip beginning that weekend and if you are lucky, they will resume pass sales and you will be able to upgrade your tickets.

All I've heard is speculation, no actual rumors or decent sources. And speculation says January. It does make sense. Halloween and Christmas are very busy seasons, and they don't have a need for any influx of cash, because the parks will be full regardless of MK sales or not. So when things quiet down a bit in January, they could put MKs back out and spark traffic.

Also, renewals started in August, so that will be 4+ months that they have to see how many are renewing and how many are lapsing on average.

Like you, I was hoping for sooner, but if it happens in January... well... happy birthday to me!

January 1 is also the start of a new fiscal quarter. Anything they can do to boost profits after the holidays will be considered, I'm sure.

I don't necessarily agree with this considering I work in accounting for a publicly traded company. If that's the start of the fiscal quarter, then it's an interim period and it doesn't mean anything. They could start it anytime within the quarter and it'd feed into the quarter reporting anyhow.

But if it truly is January then I'd be happy as this is the first time we'd considered purchasing a pass.

You might already know this but all the MKs have the holidays blocked out now so you would have to buy tickets anyway. Super sad about this but I guess I'll just need to visit before the block out dates.

Disneyland has a habit of raising park ticket prices and offering ticket promos in January and early February. Why wouldn't they want to maximize their profits for the whole quarter by opening pass sales earlier? Not everyone will buy them at the same time.

Thanks. Yeah, I knew this and we already have tickets. It's just a question of when we use them. My hope is to upgrade on our last day, to MKs. If we can't do that, on some trip with these tickets, buying a MK doesn't really make sense for us. It would be nice to see a new rhythm start for MK/AP sales, if they plan to pause/start sales periodically.

Search last summers magic key discussions . I think Disneyland has now closed the ticket upgrade loophole . A lot of people were upset about that. Upgrading your tickets may no longer be an option, even if magic key sales open up again.

Those were special discounted CA resident tickets that could not be upgraded. Regular tickets could be.

I was coming here to ask the same thing. I'm going in a few weeks and I want to upgrade our 5-day tickets to APs. It's my daughter's senior year before she heads off to college and Lord knows what else. We wanted to be able to do DL again and again. We've done APs twice and it was really great being able to keep going. But I guess on our final night, we'll say goodbye and never return as a full family. For that, Disney execs get a big fat FAIL.

That’s so disappointing and I agree it’s a fail on DL’s part. But don’t give up on returning as a family! I still travel with my parents and I’m in my 50s-my 25 year old daughter joins us every time we go if she can.

Ah on that rationale then it makes sense.
