Any character meals out of the parks?

Are there any resort character meals? Trying to squeeze in some Disney magic.

Yes, but 2 out of 3 of them are breakfast only. There is the Critter Breakfast at Storytellers Cafe (in the Grand Californian Hotel); there is Surf's Up with Mickey and Friends' breakfast at the PCH Grill (in the Paradise Pier Hotel); and there is Goofy's Kitchen in the Disneyland Hotel, which serves breakfast/brunch and dinner, but closes for a few hours in between (so no actual lunch).

I prefer Goofy's, but a lot of people on this board prefer Surf's Up (the only meal with Mickey and Stitch) or the Critter Breakfast (the only meal with Koda and Kenai). Goofy's is the most expensive, and has the largest buffet.

You should still be able to get a reservation at this time... Heck you can prob get reservations the day before, as long as you aren't picky about the time

If you want dinner, Goofy's is your only choice. I haven't been since they took away most of the characters, but the food is good & there's a nice variety.

Of the 3 hotel meals...Surf's Up is my favorite. The kids get to get up & dance with the characters, and it's never been too crowded when we've been in mid-June.

Well... Apparently there's some kind of problem with dining reservations right now beginning on October 3rd. So my advice would be try now. Then monitor that situation, and once it's fixed, expect people who settled for the 2nd to start moving their reservations to later in their trip.

They are open to book now through the middle of October now, seems fixed! There are openings, I am thrilled!!!!!!!!

By the way -- I don't know where you'll be parked, but if you are on foot, walking from the Paradise Pier Hotel (where the Surf's Up with Mickey breakfast is) to Downtown Disney or to the parks is easy. Paradise Pier Hotel is essentially across the street from the Grand Californian Hotel. If you step out in front of the PPH and look left and across the street, you will see the GCH. So when you're done with breakfast, an easy way to get to the parks, etc., would be to cross the street and walk through the GCH lobby. From the GCH lobby, follow the signs to Downtown Disney, or Disneyland. (The GCH has its own entrance into California Adventure too, but on your breakfast day you're going to Disneyland for the Halloween Party.)

I've never been to WDW, but I have a feeling that our Downtown Disney is inferior to the one in Florida! We have a World of Disney, Vault 28, Marceline's Confectionery, D Street, Anna & Elsa's Boutique, WonderGround Gallery, Walt Disney Travel Company, and then a bunch of non-Disney places like Rainforest Cafe, Jamba Juice, Haagen-Dazs, La Brea Bakery, etc. However, the Disneyland Hotel anchors one end of Downtown Disney, so you might want to wander over there and look around.

Between 4pm and 12am during the party do you have any suggestions for what to try and fit in? I am thinking of Toad, Pinocchio and Alice but not sure what else to plan for.

Haunted Mansion Holiday, of course (because the seasonal overlay is something that WDW does not have), and Space Mountain Ghost Galaxy (another overlay). Maybe the Halloween Screams fireworks -- if you like fireworks. The Paint the Night parade.

You might want to meet some characters -- I'm not sure. In this post - http://www.disboards.com/threads/ha...een-night-mhp-sold-out.3270919/#post-51326916 - see questions #13 and #14. They will give you an idea of the rides that were not open during last year's party (so you know what you can probably skip this year), and also which characters were out at the party (in case there is anyone you want to meet). Of course, as with anything in the park, schedules and line-ups are always subject to change.

This was not the case when we were there last month. We had a 10:45 reservation and were there well after 11. All of the characters were still around for photos and autographs. I actually preferred the time, because we received a lot of specialized attention after most of the diners left.

Well in a panic I switched the reservation to the Goofy breakfast lol. No worries either way I am sure we will be happy.
