I am currently booked at VWL in a 2 BRD lock-off but am waitlisted for a dedicated...we are bringing family for a once in a life time trip and also have booked a one bedroom(there are 10 of us)...we are going week of Nov 2nd...I know it is Jersey Week and Food and Wine so thought we were better off getting in a VWL but am getting discouraged...what are our chances our waitlist will come through??

There is always a chance. I would keep checking online though since people have reported finding available rooms without the wait list coming through.

Absolutely a chance. Jersey week really doesn't affect crowds much. Now Food and Wine...that's a different story. But it is the tail end of F&W, so that will work in your favor. That time in November is a bit lower in terms of crowds.

Are you completely married to the idea of staying at VWL? It is one of the smaller DVCs, so that makes things trickier as well. And with 10 people, you might really want to consider OKW (largest as well as cheapest points) or Kidani or BLT (both higher points, depending on view category, but significantly bigger than VWL, BCV, and BWV).

Also, consider the Treehouse Villas! Those are 3-bedroom units for the "cost" (point-wise, of course) of 2-br villas. That might be a great way to go. It really feels like you have your own house!

no I am not married to the idea of WL, my problem that happens is I need the one bedroom and the two bedroom...so where ever I go there needs to be openings for both..as of now on DVC website the whole week isn't available anywhere:sad:
that is why we waitlisted with the lockoff because the one bedroom was already available and the lockoff in the same resort but dedicated was not so as of now we are guaranteed to all be at the same resort..does that make sense:confused3

There is a chance. We were there during Jersey Week and the manager at SSR told us they were at capacity due to Jersey Week! That was one resort though. I will send some pixie dust your way.

thank you for the pixie dust but SSR is a big resort..doesn't give me much hope that they were at capacity:eek:

Sometimes the lock-offs work better depending on who's in your party. For instance, if you're traveling with in-laws, friends, adults, etc. Having the studio portion is great. It gives members of your party their separate space, kitchenette, separate entrance, etc.

If your are traveling with a larger family w/kids, the dedicated works better.

It's something to consider.

But in any case, you will have the time of your life at DISNEY! :goodvibes

we will be traveling with extended family so all children in the second bedroom..thats why the dedicated is more improtant for us:( thank you I know we will have agreat time regardless!

Pile all of the suitcases up just inside their door - that should discourage any possibility of escape.:thumbsup2

:lmao:good plan..thanks!
for those of you that have stayed in both a dedicated and lock off is there really that much difference?? I know the kitchenette, additional outside door, and not two queen beds but rather a queen and pull out..is the lock off smaller because of the kitchenette, are the pullouts double or queen?
thanks

The pull outs in the 2nd bedroom of a lock off--because its a studio--will be a double.
