I know no one actually knows the answer to this but curious if anyone has ever gotten a dining reservation at a hard to get place last minute? Or they kept checking until trip and something opened? I really would love to get Topolinos for breakfast for our June trip, theres two mornings we could do it, so I'll keep checking back. But Im thinking its wishful thinking.

Sure, people get last minute reservations all the time. ADR availability is constantly changing so the more often you check, the better your odds are. The night before is a great time to pick up a reservation as people cancel to avoid the fee. You can also set up a reservation finder to help you.

There a few different ones but my favorite is Touring Plans. It’s a free service but you do have to create an account.
https://touringplans.com/walt-disney-world/reservation-finderEdit to add, I should have clarified how this works. Basically you put in the day, time frame, and restaurant you’re looking for and your contact info. The tool checks every 15 minutes or so and sends you a text/email when it finds the reservation. You have to be super fast when you get the notification.

We got it last minute last month.
I had found a noon reservation two weeks before we left for a Sunday and wanted earlier, checking randomly while we were sitting at Beaches and Cream on the Wednesday and there was for 8:45am.

Keep checking.

Yes, it's possible you just have to keep checking. We never make ADRs in advance, we always do it day of or in some cases the night before. I was there a couple of weeks ago and saw both BOG and LeCellier open up day of.

At first we had TP reservation finder hooked up to email and we kept missing them. Then we switched to text and that worked much better for us. As soon as the text comes in you need to jump on it!

Yes, I was able to get Ohana's a number of years ago about a week out. Someone had obviously cancelled.

I got Topolino's for breakfast the day before during Presidents' Week.

I've always (eventually) got the reservations I wanted, around the time I wanted. Set up a TP account, and you can search for 2 reservations at a time. You do have to be quick when you get the notification, but I usually get it on the first try. I am also looking for a Topolino's in June. I currently have one for the last day of our trip, but wanted it the first full day. You will see a lot of movement the last month before the trip. .. also if you didn't get the reservation on the first try, go back on TP to reset it.

I haven't received an alert for this trip yet (I got everything I wanted besides the Toppolino's timing), but I believe your get a link that goes to the booking on the website page.

Honestly I never use the link because it takes me to the website and then I have to log into my account, which takes too long. When I get the alert I just open the app (where I’m already logged on) and then go to the restaurant page.

I just got a last minute reservation for my friend for Topolino’s breakfast. I was looking constantly a day or two before the day she needed it. I saw one pop up, but I wasn’t fast enough. Then, a few hours later, another one popped up. I saw 3 or 4 Chef Mickey breakfasts pop up during this time too.
