Any Chance they will extend free dining?

We are going Sept. 30-Oct. 5. Obviously as of right now, we are missing out on free dining (though I am very happy for all of you who have gotten it!!! )

In past years, have they ever added on extra dates at the end of thier orginal promotion?

Just wondering if I should keep my eyes and ears open

No, unfortunately once the actual promotion days are set, they're not changed. Disney may change the booking range (i.e. right now you need to book by, I think, June 24; that date could be extended depending on availability, but the promotion won't be)

The speculation is Disney wants to minimize the number of free dining guests during the F&W Festival.

The rumor is Disney's computer system can't handle a rate change during your stay. That's the reason why you keep the rate in effect when you check in. I could see Disney extending the date in future years if a promotional rate, including free dining, could end during your stay.

Still won't help the OP, I suspect the ending date would be the end of September.

If they won't move the date later in the month, do you think that they might move to earlier in August? Like maybe move it to the 20th of the month???

I think if they were worried about filling rooms in early August, they'd have already included those dates in the promotion. As others have suggested, they may extend the period during which you'd be able to book the promotion, but probably won't extend the period during which you can check-in and take advantage of the promotion.
