Any Chance of Cancellation?

We are planning a last minute trip to WDW for 10/15-22. Unfortunately all the moderates are booked. Any chance of a room coming available for that time frame? Should I be concerned about crowds at the park since they are full. We don't want to shell out the extra money for the deluxe and feel the value would be too small and crowded. We'd love POFQ.

Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the DIS!

October is not one of the busiest months at the parks. Maybe there are some conferences going on at the resorts, but the parks will not be as crowded as they are when schools are out.

First question: are you flexible in your dates? Maybe if you move the start or end by one day in either direction you will get a room.

Second question: have you tried booking through a Disney specialist travel agent?

And finally, there is always the chance for a cancellation.

Good luck!

Bob

The Food and Wine Festival will be going on then. That is why the resorts are crowded. I would expect large crowds at the parks also.

Keep trying, cancellations happen daily.

It's also MNSSHP as well as alot of schools have Columbus Day off (10th). Our county will have parent/teacher conferences the 20th and 21st giving most families a 4 day wknd. LOTS of folks take off for the wknd or add a couple more days for a longer vacation.
I definitely would check in w/a travel agent and see if they can find space for you. If you prefer to do it on your own, you can always call and see what pops open.
Have a great time!!

If I am not mistaken, that is also the week of the Golf Tournament, which may be booking up the rooms.

We cancelled our CRB room about 3 weeks ago for Oct. 14-22 due to not being able to get a AP discount room and decent flights. We rebooked for the first week of Dec.

Plus you have MNSSHP going on during October. It's not a quiet month any more.

Also, try booking it online. Sometimes they have availablility online when they have none by phone. HTH :)

Keep trying - people change reservations a lot; sometimes it just depends on who you talk to.

I was in the same situation. I kept checking online for availability on a daily basis and today it paid off because a room opened up for my trip!!

Just because all the rooms are booked does not mean the parks will be crowded. There are always events (golf tourney) and/or conventions going on down there that take rooms. We went last year during the week of Veteran's day and when I tried to switch resorts a month out ALL the rooms were booked. I was terrified and made a similar post. Everyone warned me that it will be crowded with Veteran's day, Jersey week, Food and Wine etc. etc. etc.

Bottomline is October is a RELATIVELY slow month and I am sure although there will be crowds, by Disney World standards, it will be empty.

Keep checking on availability, meanwhile, book a room as a safety in case POFQ does not open up.

Just wanted to let you know that I went to the AAA website and typed in your dates and both POR FQ and Riverside were coming up as available for your dates. The rate was 140.00. Good luck finding what you want.

Also, did you ask the CM to check for each day? Sometimes there's only 1-2 days that are booked and you can reserve the other days and keep calling back (you have to put down a couple of deposits if the days are split, but everything can be linked together when the days become available). This is a little bit of a gamble, but often works.

I had a similiar problem with those dates. I booked awhile ago for Oct 16-22 at POR, then thanks to my work schedule, I had to move the ressie one day later, to Oct 17-23. I could find almost nothing available. I could have still gotten POR but only in a king bed. I decided to try the next week, Oct 21-28 and voila! Almost every resort was available, and all moderates were available in all room/view categories. So I happily changed my dates to the later week. All this tells me that the week of Oct 16th will be somewhat busy but later weeks seem better. :)

Any chance you can move your trip later?
