Any chance of a General Public code now?

Just wondering if the general public code will come to be if all the rooms are being snatched up by Visa discount and AP discount? :confused3

I already have my room booked but I have been waiting for a GP code for months in the hopes that I can add an extra night with the savings.

Is there still a chance of another code coming out today or not until tomorrow, if at all?

I'm going to call later tonight after the dust settles and they have a good idea of what's getting filled/changed when and ask them if they are done releasing codes this month. I know they can't say "sure, there will be a new GP code tomorrow and it's 'X'" but they may be able to at least say that chances are good/chances are poor that more codes will come out sometime this month or something.

Please keep us posted as to whether or not you get an answer.
The suspense is killing me.

Thanks BlindTyldak, I need to know the GP too! If true I can save $118 and that will pay for my gas!

I currently have an AP code saving $120, but don't have an AP yet (which is why my disc is so little). Hoping a GP code come out and is a little better.

Mousesavers said the Visa code would probably be open to the general public on Aug. 17. That's tomorrow. I would call then.

But will that be package or room only?

The fine print on the new AP rate page also says something to the effect of "this rate will also be offered to select groups of non-passholders" so, yeah, I'd say you'll see some room only deals soon.

When I called today to get my AP rate at Pop/regular season, the CM offered me a pin code rate too. The AP rate was $79 a night and the pin code rate was $84 a night. Since I'm a long time AP holder and I took the cheaper rate. Had I not been an AP holder I may have taken the $84 a night. So there are other rates out there. I think there will be a GP rate, but the question is, will there be any rooms left. Already folks are posting that there is no availability for the weekend around Columbus day weekend and no availabilty/or very little for the first week of December. I did not ask the CM about a pin code, she just offered it when she pulled up my name. The first time ever for me, with more than 60 trips under my belt.

Is that fine print on the AP site or was that on mousesavers?

This is sad, I'm getting my hopes up WAY too high . . . we'd be able to upgrade to a mod for only $130 more than we've paid already for our 8 night vacation if I'm crunching numbers right and a GP is similar to the Visa and AP codes. :lmao:

My guess is that they are trying the get rid of rooms they REALLY want to sell--like pool view/MK view/CL/Courtyard view then when the GP code is out, they will open up more standard view. Just a hope..long shot...but still maybe a chance for all us "general public". Also, I am sure there are plenty of people who put $200 deposits on vacations who may soon decide not to book. Just another thought...

Hoping for a GP code as well. We will be in WDW Dec. 9-16; I hope that week isn't as popular as the first week of December this year!

Let's keep our fingers crossed!

Cut and paste from the November Code Watch thread, from a post by car1971:

I just got off the phone with CM. Just told them I wanted to apply code ZBD to my current reservation. She proceeded>>>>OK that will bring your total down to $2386.48. Im thinking :cheer2: she says ok now I need your Disney visa to apply the 200.00 deposit. I say " O sorry didnt realize I needed a Disney Visa."
She said for the first 2 days of the promotion, it has to be done with the Visa, then starting the 17th, anyone can use it. I asked to make sure it will be the same code and she confirmed yes it would be. Just call back in the morning.

As with any quotes from CM conversations, lets hope the CM knew what they were talking about (we've been lucky so far!) and GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!

Good job BlindTyldak! Thanks for information, I have taken tomorrow off just so I can start calling at 7:00 am!!
