Any chance for AKV in Jan w/ 7 mo window?

We are taking friends (first time) to WDW 1/23-1/27. I was going to try to get a 2 bedroom AKV when our 7 month window comes up? I am thinking that there are only a few of those & probably taken by home resort people, but I figure I'd give it a try as my DBF is really animal crazy & would love it there! (her DH loves it too, but she would just be in heaven!) My DH & I sayed at AKL in Jan this eyar & relaly loved it, so we'd be psyched too. So just thought I'd ask for some pixie dust & anyone actually tried w/ the 7 month window & been successful for AKV? Thanks, Deb

We switched the last part of our trip over to AKL. We are now doing SSR until Jan 4 and then moving to a 1BR at AKL 4-9th. I did it day by day and completed our ressie last Saturday with no problem. Good Luck to you!

My understanding is that when we were 7 months out on January 4(the first day we wanted to stay at other that our home @ SSR) we phoned and started the New Reservation with AKL. Each day we phone and they make the switch from SSR to AKL. They don't cancel the entire stay at SSR until we are certain we can get each day at the alternate location. On the 9th we completed the reservation 4-9th and now we have the first part of our trip with SSR and then a new seperate one for AKL. I hope that makes some sense to you. We are new home owners in the past year and learning as we go. Good Luck!!
We enjoy trying more than one resort because we are there for more than two weeks per trip. Out first trip home in Dec/Jan we did the same thing, spending our first portion at SSR and then moved to BCV for the remainder of our trip. It was Great!

Thanks so much! I didn't even think about reserving SSR (our home) first & then trying to switchout later...Gosh, I hope there are rooms available!! Maybe I should call now & see about SSR!! We are excited about trying different places too. We just bought in May--haven't even officially "closed yet!!" Welcome home neighbor!! (I love saying that!!ha!)

Welcome Home and if you are like us you are going to Love It. We are going back in 13 days and we just told the kids on Saturday evening, they are "In Shock" that we are going again. Would never be happening if DH hadn't convinced me to go and see about DVC with him. So happy I gave in!!

I just tried to switch my dates for Jan 5-12, and could only get 9-12.
The 8th was avail for 5 seconds, but was snatched up before she could get it. I went on the waitlist for 5-8.
The 5th was avail, but I didn't want to chance not getting a day in the middle. The old waitlist system where they called me let me keep that from happening, but the new waitlist system discouraged me from setting it up night by night. So, if it comes through, it will be all as a chunk.
If not, we'll do a split stay at VWL then AKV.

OOOH! That is what we'll be asking for as well 1/23-1/27. OH well, just gotta wait until 6/25 to see if the first 2 days are available & then go from there! here's hoping you get your 5th-8th days as well!!
Also, did you have to specify a "dedicated" 2 bedroom or the studio & 1bedroom type? ( I forget what it is called) I don't care which it is.. just wondering, if they offered both types when they were looking at availability! Deb

I didn't even ask! I'd have taken anything!
but on the website my reservation says "L/O" which your questions helps me understand means lock off, so it'll be the 1 bed and studio combo. I think this means the studio will have a separate entrance which will work well for my party. This will be my first stay in a 2 bedroom, I usually just stay in a studio with 2 adults, so I know I'll be spoiled!

There are no dedicated 2BRs in Jambo House, all 2BRs there are lockoffs. They will have some dedicated 2BRs in Kidani Village but that building doesn't open until 2009.

We also had to wait for the 7mth window. Just booked a AKV studio for Jan 8-14. Had to take a studio at BCV for Jan 6 & 7 and wait listed for those dates for AKV. It's okay if our wait list doesn't go through because I want to try a stay at BCV's too.
