Any car rental gurus?

I had a great price on a car for Salt Lake City, Sept. 22-26. Small SUV for under $200. BUT now the airline has pushed back our return flight by over six hours !!! So, that would add an extra day to the rental.

Online, I can't seem to change my reservation and keep the same great daily rate. Any gurus who know how to get great rates?? It's four adults with four large suitcases and each have a smaller tote/carry-on, too. So, I need a large vehicle.

we use Enterprise they dont charge mileage east of Mississippi.

If it makes a difference, Enterprise does not charge per 24-hour period, they charge per day -- so if you rent a car on Monday at Noon until Thursday at Noon, you would only be charged for 3 days with National, Alamo, etc. With Enterprise, they would charge you for 4 days -- Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

If online doesn't work, I'd try calling and talking to a human. Be sure to immediately say do NOT change anything with my reservation, I'm wondering if I do "X" what it would do to my rate..... Sometimes they can help. If the first one can't, try calling again.

To the OP -- have you contacted the Airline to see if there is another flight you can take so you don't have to incur another day's car rental since they're the ones making the change in your flight time, not you?

Can you keep your original reservation? And only incur some extra hourly charges? Or just pay the "extra" day rate? I believe most car rental agencies will allow you to be up to 59 minutes late on your 24-hour rental period. I believe that if you are more than an hour late returning the car, you will have to pay an entire day's worth of taxes and fees.
