Any Canadians thinking of selling?

With the boarder closed since March 2020, with no reopening in sight and all the testing requirements in place, coupled with rising delta levels in Florida, any other Canadians thinking of selling?

We have 860 points. With no plan for being able to use our points any time soon, I’m beginning to think our dvc days are over. I don’t know how much longer we can hold the points, pay dues and not use them.

We have a November trip planned but with rising delta levels, coupled with testing and the boarder closure, it’s not looking good. We will not travel until testing is ended. Getting Covid while away would cause real problems for getting home to work obligations.

I figure we will look at selling come December if things don’t improve.

We are Canadian as well, but I haven’t thought about selling. In fact, we bought another resale contract in March. 😊 We are just over 1000 points, and have our first post-COVID trips booked for Nov and Jan (both Aulani, as I feel more comfortable with Hawaii’s approach to the pandemic than Florida’s), but with a big WDW trip booked for next March. I can’t wait!!!!😄

why don’t you rent your points out until your able and feel safe to travel?

Very difficult to rent I’ve found. I rented a few and then no bites on the other points through a broker. Things might be different now, though. This was a few months back.

I jave never had any problem renting my points on the dis. Maybe try here.

I rented via a Facebook group and it was a bit of work (probably 4-5 hours over the weekend) but rented 500+ over 4 reservations.

PM me if you want any details.

We live in Australia and I can't see us traveling until at least 2023. Our politicians seem to enjoy the "Fortress Australia" approach. Whilst I would never consider selling, I do feel like we are wasting my kids best years at WDW. I have wondered if the kids will be in the "Disney is for babies" mindset once we finally set foot on US soil. Renting points isn't really a problem, but it was never part of the plan.

No plans to sell. We're flying down the second week of August :) A full week in the Polynesian Bungalows because we had so many points stacked up. We're actually thinking of adding to one of our contracts.
No worries about contracting the delta variant while down there? If vaccinated, you won’t get too sick, but flying home will be an issue. That’s what is keeping us from travel down there now and in the not too distant future. Dh cannot be away from work.

Not overly worried based on the 1%-3% rate of infection for fully vaxed. Having said that, we're not ignoring common sense and protocols. We will wear masks indoors and so on. Avoid table service dining and standing in crowds (which I never like to do anyway). We booked a VIP Tour to avoid lines and we're staying in a Poly bungalow -- so a self contained unit and no elevators etc. So bring on the magic :)

I feel the same way. I have no plans to sell but was really sad we couldn’t go this past year as a “prime year” in my girls childhood was missed. These are the years we bought DVC for. Really hoping we can get there in 2022.

I keep reminding myself though - I went annually as a child and loved going even in high school and beyond. If my parents were paying, I was happy to go anywhere (still am ) .

I think when you “grow up disney” as our DVC kids do, it’s in your bones and DNA. At least I hope so!

Fellow Australian here. Have you considered using points for an Aulani stay? We are hoping to be able to travel to Hawaii in 2022 rather than renting out our points. Covid never broke out in Hawaii in a big way, so there aren't a lot of community cases floating around, and Hawaii has had a great vaccination uptake.

Seriously hope the border will open before 2023!

Sounds smart. I’m considering worst case scenario and it gives me the jitters based on logistics, not on getting sick.

This is something to consider.

Certainly hope you’re right.. but at the minute I can’t see the state government leaders “living” with any form of COVID circulating… obviously that will need to change eventually.
As Hawaii is a bit of a hub for Asian travelers, I don’t think the government will green light the idea. Aussies are probably going to be restricted to bubbles like New Zealand and Singapore in 2022.
We own a small contract at Aulani. Hawaiian airlines now fly direct to MCO from HNL so owning Aulani and at WDW now makes perfect sense when traveling our routes.

Not Canadian, but I'm fully vaccinated with Moderna. I plan to go over Thanksgiving (US Holiday) and will wear a mask in the parks just for safety, unless the variant fades away. Between the vaccine and a mask, I feel pretty confident...but I still wear a mask when shopping at Walmart.

Would you consider traveling without your husband for a year? Maybe consider getting a travel insurance that covers covid infections for you and your kids and leave dh at home?
