Any Canadians order from Amazon.com?

My mom wants to purchase a Kindle Paperwhite. She would like to get it from Amazon, but of course Amazon refuses to ship to Canadians. My husband wants some books from Amazon.

So I suggested ordering the stuff and using usaddressinc. Three years ago I used them to pick up a cell phone battery replacement on our way to the Buffalo airport. Great experience!

My mom is insisting Amazon will refuse to ship to it as their "help section" says they will not ship to any Freight Fowarder. But usaddressinc is not a freight forwarder.. they just receive & hold your items. She would have to cross into Buffalo in order to pick it up.

Has anyone ever placed an order with Amazon to any company similiar as usaddressinc and have it work out fine?

We order from Amazon.ca all the time. Love using actually. Did you try checking there for your item?

I have also ordered from Amazon.uk before and had no trouble.

Yep :)

Just ordered a few things before Christmas and picked them up @ US addreses on Witmer Rd. No issues at all.

Great, thank you!

Unfortunately the books my husband wants are not available from Amazon.ca. Actually, it always seems that the stuff we want is on the American site, not the Canadian.

I didn't know we could order from the UK site though. I'll have to check that one out.

We Ordered from .ca and funny as was a company in the US which I wasn't impressed with as took forever and didn't even find out until the purchase was already made :(
IF companies from the US can post things and ship them from The US
We should be allowed to shop the .com and have it shipped up here

Yeah, I had a good experience with the UK site. I ordered a blueray box set that was on for a really great price. I was quite worried about extra shipping and duty charges but there were none at all. Not sure if I just got lucky on that or what.

I agree...I lived in Canada for a year and found Amazon .ca site lacking.

Ohh, I just thought of a couple of questions 5mouseketeersforus.

When you did your order with Amazon.com, did you already have an account set up with Amazon? Did it have your canadian address but you told it to ship to a different address? Or did your Amazon account not reflect your canadian account anywhere but had the usaddressinc address?

Did you use a canadian credit card or american?

I use a canadian credit card so my billing info is all canadian but the shipping info is the witmer rd address. You set up your acct with amazon.com. Never had an issue with it. Same goes for lots of other US retailers that i buy from (Target, Gymboree, TRUS)

Totally fine and saves $$

Just chiming in even though you basically have your answer. I did the bulk of my Christmas shopping from Amazon.com and picked it all up at US. Address Inc. with no problems.:)

Also used my Canadian credit card and the Witmer Road address for shipping. There is one section for billing address and another for shipping.

I also order from Amazon.com all the time - actually picked up something yesterday. I have a U.S. address I ship to. I have a Canadian billling address and U.S. shipping address. I have actually used Amazon to ship a Christmas gift for my MIL when she was in Florida one year. Another option for the billing part is to use paypal. I have not had any problems with shipping to the U.S. with a Canadian address from Amazon. Those that won't take a Canadian address I will call the help number to see if they can place my order over the phone.

I order all the time from Amazon. Have it delivered to the UPS store in Niagara Falls, NY. I live in NIagara Falls, ON and takes me minutes to cross the border.

I have never had issues with them shipping there. Parcels get there in a better time than if coming over the border, and you don't have to pay extra fees for it.

Definitely ship to the US!!

Has your mom done any research with respect to the ability to use a Kindle in Canada and what functions may or may not work north of the border? I haven't researched this issue in about a year, so things might have changed, but she may be sorely disappointed with what won't work for her in Canada.

I'm confused. :confused3 I've bought from Amazon.com and had my items shipped to my address in Canada.

You can do this. But for purposes of items being shipped quicker, and much much cheaper, I always ship to the US. Having said that, I'm also a 15 min drive to the UPS store there. I wouldn't begin to ship things to Canada from the US

My mother lives in Canada and her billing information is Canadian, but she pays for a US mailing address in Maine. The only requirement I saw for Amazon was that the address must be a physical street address, not a PO box or some couriers could not deliver. It has worked for everything she has ordered state-side. She picks up across the nearby border and drives it back to Canada. As to why people wouldn't have shipped to Canada, in addition to extra shipping fees and shipping time, many items on the Amazon.com website are not made available for shipment to Canadian addresses. This comes up frequently with other retailers as well (I'm looking at you, Sierra Trading Post!)

Some items (books) they will ship, many ( electronics) they won't. Everything I look at seems to be not ship able to Canada!

They won't ship toys, either. I have bought professional books through amazon.com, though. But that was before I learned about bookdepository:goodvibes-always free shipping, and often cheaper! :thumbsup2

I guess you placed your order already, but as we speak, my 2 (DH &I) Kindles Paperwhite are sitting in my US package receiving warehouse in Vermont. Amazon did not "block" the transaction because my billing was Canadian and I wanted that Paperwhite which only ships to the US.

I can already see our Kindles in my Amazon.com account, so I wouldn't worry about anything. I love Amazon, even the .ca, but the .com sells everything and has generally good pricing (more like amazing pricing for us Canadians). I usually order tons of stuff 3-4 times a year and we go pick it up. I would so love to be able to order everything online like that.
