Hi, I need a little flavor help.

DF and I are having a 3 tier cake...

Anniversary Layer... Chocolate with Peanut Butter Cup filling

Middle Layer... Marble Cake with Peanut Butter Cup filling

Bottom Layer... ??? ALL SUGGESTIONS will be greatly appreciated.

We wanted the bottom layer of our cake to be white cake with white chocolate mousse and fresh strawberries. My planner just told us today that the Bakery doesn't make white cake, so it will have to be yellow cake. I don't think yellow cake with white chocolate mousse and fresh strawberries would be a good mix. We can't go down for a tasting, so I have no idea what would be a good mix. Also, I'm not a huge fan of yellow cake.

We wanted a layer with strawberries, but we also wanted some form of chocolate in every layer. Help please! :flower3:

the almond was a HUGE hit at my wedding. they're all still talking about it. i had it with the bavarian cream (which i wasn't a fan of personally) and everyone loved it!

you can do yellow cake with bavarian cream and fresh strawberries?

We had vanilla cake with white chocolate mousse and passion fruit, which was quite possibly the best cake I've ever had...but that was at DL...WDW has tropical mousse, I believe?

I don't think the yellow cake will clash with white chocolate mousse, but maybe you want a fruit mousse along with it, instead of fresh berries?

We had a yellow cake with white choccy mousse and strawberries and it was delish - we tried it our Planning Session beforehand and weren't disappointed then - our other layers were:

yellow sponge, white choccy mousse and raspberries

choccy sponge, dark choccy mousse and raspberries

All three layers went down a treat - the strawberry layer was our top layer and I chose that one so we lucked out as we had the leftovers - woo-hoo!!

But I see that you are Peanut Butter girl and I actually think Caryn's suggestion of the almond would go sooo well with your other choices - yummy, I'm on a diet at the moment, lost 8 pounds in 4 weeks so reading this is not helping me LOL i'm off to find a banana ;)

Thank you so much Ladies!! :goodvibes

Caryn, what do you think the almond cake would have been better with. I'm not a fan of bavarian cream either. Are there any fruity fillings or fruit mousse fillings that would have gone well with it?

I wonder if WDW has vanilla cake. Your cake sounds AMAZING... I'm going to ask about that.

LOL, I'm on a diet too, and I am dying to eat my wedding cake!! That's great to hear that someone actually has had yellow with white choc mouse and strawberries and loved it.

I think I'm going to go have a banana with some peanut butter!!

i couldn't have any of the fruit because i'm really allergic to berries, so i'm no help there. i will say though, that the choco mousse was pretty good in my yellow layer and that might work with the almond. something to know though, is that the almond is really sweet by itself, so maybe adding some fruit would be ok, though, i'm not sure how any of it tastes since i haven't had it since i was a kid...

You know I can't help but think peanut butter and banana would make a good wedding cake filling :rotfl:

hmmm. I'm sorry you're allergic to berries. I may just keep the yellow with choco mousse since two of you have said it was good. I really wish we could go down for a tasting, but all of your taste buds will have to do.

It's good to know that the almond is really sweet.

I also thought the almond was pretty tasty. We paired it with the amaretto filling, and it was a huge hit!

now that sounds GREAT! i should have done that...

a side note, the choco cake w/pb filling tasted EXACTLY like a funny bone...since you're from nj, you should know what they are...

I had the almond/amaretto mouse as my non chocolate layer too. It was really good, and highly recommend it.

we chose two flavors: marble with peanut butter cup filling, and amaretto filling with almond cake. The flavors he did not like was the tropical filling (tasked like pinapples and mango) but with cake tasted like vomit (because of the acidic taste). Our planner had that flavor hidden in the line up of flavors.

Does anyone know what cake flavors and fillings are available to choose from?
:goodvibes

we had 2 different fillings...

1 layer of white chocolate mousse
1 layer of fresh rasberries

Our Disney cake was not only beautiful but was delicious.
One year later we ate the entire top with a bottle of champagne..YUMMY!

My cake is going to be chocolate chip cake!!! You could do that with the chocolate mousse and strawberrys.

Has anyone done chocolate cake with rasberry mousse? I'm very tempted by that combination, but I'd like to know if anyone has first hand experience with it's tastiness factor. I'm intrigued by the almond cake with amaretto filling, but worry that it will taste too alcohol-y, especially since we have kids coming.

I'm definitely getting marble with peanut butter cup as well, because everyone here raves about it.

My daughter choose her middle layer with chocolate cake and raspberry mousse. We tried it at the planning session, can I just say it was EXCELLENT!!!

Can't wait till the wedding next week :scared1: to get some more!!!!!

Caryn by the way I was born in NYC and just love those funny bones too!! !

the rasberry and chocaltae (sp) was so good a the tasting session but we went with almond and amaretto it tasted like a toasted almond bar so yummy
