Any Bonvoy Hotels near the DLH?

I decided to get the Bonvoy credit card not sure how to navigate that system, yet. Maybe when my Bonvoy account is set up, I'll find an easy way to check, but at this time I have to look at each hotel separately. I am wondering if there is a Marriott/Sheraton/any Bonvoy hotel close to walking to the DLH. I know there are plenty on the Harbor side and near the convention center. I am checking to see if there's anything with easy access to the DLH that I may stay at for Dapper Days.

It's not a huge deal and if not, I might just stay at the DLH or one of the other Bonvoy hotels. I just thought it would be nice if I could use one of my certificates and be close to DLH since that's usually where the convention is.

Yes! The brand new Westin! Relatively easy walk to the DLH.

I think the only other Marriott/Bonvoy option on that side of things is the Springhill Suites.

ETA: To clarify- there are two Springhills. One by the convention center and the other (“Maingate”) is on Ball & Walnut behind Mickey & Friends. I was referring to that one 😊

Are you talking about the “free night” with the credit card or just the points in general? I just dumped my Bonvoy card after 15 years of being a Starwood then forced Bonvoy member. The free night is a joke as there are zero options for that point range and you can’t add to it. I had the $95/year card so maybe a higher card gives you more points.
We just stayed at the Courtyard using points. We considered the new Westin as well which is on the other side.
Just go to the Marriott site and you can pull up the hotels and select points for booking without being logged in.

That looks great and it's less than a 10 minute walk according to Google maps.

I got the $95/year Chase card. When I actually get the card and can use it, I'll get 3, 50K certificates. I realize that the annual certificate is only 35k and will be difficult to use. Honestly, even the 50K certs aren't looking promising for where I want to stay, which is DL area, San Francisco and the Swan/Dolphin, but I think I'll end up taking some random one nighters to use my certificates.

My main goal is to rack up points and use general points and not certificates because most of what I have looked at that I would like to use are about 70K points. Oddly, when I asked about using the certs on another forum that I frequent (not Disney related) lots of people posted lots of places that I could use my certs, including Hawaii. It seems like the Bonvoy hotels near DL should be less points, but it is what it is. The cash prices are okay and I will be doing that to earn points for future stays. The rate at the new JW Marriott looked about half the price of GC. So, even if it is outrageous, it's still a lot less expensive than what I was looking at.

Fairfield Inn across the street, courtyard, etc.. lots of them! The Four Points has a really nice pool area we love. Has a pool bar/food service and lots of palm trees -feels very vacation-y there! It is about 5 mins more of a walk than some other hotels and over a bridge (and ART runs too). We stayed at Fairfield last time and really enjoyed our stay there, and so close to DL too, but pool is not as great (but didn't matter because it was too cold).

I would be shocked if you can use those free nights in Hawaii. I own a Westin timeshare in Kauai so I already have Gold. I can’t even book the Marriott in Monterey for less than 70k. You used to be able to book Swan/Dolphin for great points when it was Starwood…now Marriott has destroyed the benefits. The sign up bonus is worth it. I bounce reward cards now.

You are looking at Category 7 off peak or category 6 normal pricing for your 50K cert and category 5 normal pricing for your 35K cert. So in order of distance to DLH:
Westin - cat 7
Residence Inn - cat 6
Springhill Suites - cat 5
Courtyard Park Entrance - cat 7
Fairfield - cat 5

For the last two, the easiest way to get to DLH is to cross security and go through Downtown Disney.

The Swan/Dolphin is category 6 although they do block point bookings quite often and there's plenty of category 6 and 7 hotels in San Francisco. But I agree that overall, Marriott points have been getting devalued over time, especially in the US. A lot of my favorite hotels to stay at got bumped up a category this year. I think next year's devaluations may be pretty brutal as well because of record high credit card sign up bonuses in the US this year and people accumulating points from promotions but not spending them during the pandemic.

Probably won't work off points/free night deals but there's also the new JW Marriot connected to Anaheim GardenWalk, a few blocks from the park. Just search for JW Marriott Anaheim Resort for info.

*Yes, I know it's Harbor side.... but besides Westin there are no Bonvoy properties near DLH- you should appreciate the other suggestions along Harbor, as there's a lot to choose from. Harbor is the main area for Disney, if you go west of the park (behind/near DLH) it's going into residential area of Anaheim not tourist spots.

The new Westin is the closest, followed by the Residence Inn and then Springhill Suites. The RI and SS share a driveway, but the RI is slightly closer.

Bonvoy points person here... we often stay at the Sheraton Park Hotel or Residence Inn both near Katella/Harbor intersection. They are a little older but clean and walkable to the parks. They usually are a bit cheaper for $ and point redemption of the other nearby Marriott properties.

We've travel hacked all of our trips, except for the first one.

Always use points, no certificates. Besides not having good options, you also don't get the fifth night free.

You might have some luck with 50k certs, especially with off-peak pricing.

Marriot has horrible redemption value for spending, except for Marriott stays.

Their sign-up bonuses are good, free nights are good if they match with where you want to stay.

You can search for hotels by category. And yes, there are places in Hawaii that work.

I think the OTHER Springhill on Ball is probably the next closest after the Westin, especially to the main lobby and convention center part of the DLH.

I forgot about the other Springhill Suites. I just looked and RI on Katella and the Springhill on Ball are the same distance walking. The SH on Ball is a lower category than the RI, so more likely the PP will have an easier time redeeming her free night there.
