Any benefit to booking through CAA

Unfortunately the CAA agent made a mistake. It is not possible (if everything is done correctly) for another agency to be able to discount enough to be better than the CAA discount. If it is a general public offer at worst it should be the same, or if the CAA discount is not available it should be the same. I am strictly talking about the Disney package not the flight component. All of that being said, I still think you should book with the best qualified TA, sometimes that means spending a little more.

This is the problem in a nutshell.....a persons opinion is based on their personal experience. The TA has one chance to get it right, it really stinks when they don't!

If you feel you need a TA, go with the BEST qualified one no matter where they work!

I too am a TA
I have been going to Disney (WDW...Disneyland only 2x) since the day they opened, at least 3x yearly. I also did the College of Disney Knowledge 3+yrs ago. It would be my experience, certainly not that piece of paper that might help me know what to suggest to my Cleints.

That being said, I NEVER used a TA to book Disney.Using codes found on Mousesaver and just being aware of ads on TV, in the paper etc..I always snagged a deal. I liked the 'putting it together'... Unless you know nothing about Disney, I cannot see the necessity to using an Agent. Just my opinion...

I got a better discount just calling Disneyland reservations and getting a AAA rate than I did calling CAA and asking for their rate on the exact same room.

Im just figureing this out - but it appears the CAA discount is room only. Does this mean you cant get a package with tickets and dining if you want to use CAA discount?

you can still book a pkg, we did. However, if the discount applies to room only, you can still get tickets etc.

CAA discount through calling Disney yourself is room only. You can book discounted packages through a CAA travel agent including tickets and dining, but you can't do it on your own through Disney.

There are limited packages available to them though, so book early. Sometimes, the prices are the same when the discounted rooms/packages are all booked up but you still get "AAA/CAA Benefits", like the "Diamond Card" that gives you a few discounts at various stores and access to the AAA parking lots at each park.

I think it is safe to say that for any Disney vacation, we all have to do some grunt-work ourselves in order to "cover all bases".

For what it's worth to this thread. CAA has run a newspaper ad here locally. They are "offering" packages that runs during Disney's Free Dining. (I would call it Piggy-Backing")
I can't run their ad here (Peter and the boys would get mad!)
But I can say that the ad did have a Package Code: CNJ
Compare with other TAs or Disney themselves.

For the record - I personally found it cheaper going through Disney myself and doing my own hunting for airfares. (Web deals for flights are usually way better than CAA's offerings)

Oh! And the Special AAA/CAA Disney Benefits on CAA's website are listed as 2007 Benefits.... take that how you will...

The offered packages are given to CAA at a discounted rate by Disney. They provide special codes to CAA.

Usually it is best to check rates everywhere and compare! Just make sure you are comparing the same thing...

All CAA TAs are not specialists. I once heard one state that AK was a moderate. She obviously wasn't a specialist... just like going anywhere, make sure they have been there and have more knowledge than you!!!!

I don't really think it is very fair to label all as such... some are excellent and do know more than you. Generalizations aren't nice.

I wasn't trying to generalize, but was speaking from 4 separate experiences of which not one worked out, and all 4 times were with a "CAA Disney Specialist" That is why I mention making sure that who you go with, whether it is CAA or not, has the knowledge you are looking for. All of my experiences were when I had limited knowledge and still was able to find out more on my own than what I was being told by the TA. It happened to be my experience, and that being said, it is good advice again to make sure that whoever it is that you are using, really knows their stuff!

We are staying off-site and booking everything ourselves; however, we went into CAA to see what kind of discounts they offer off Park passes, and compared that to at-the-gate prices and Maple Leaf Tickets in Kissimmee. Maple Leaf Tickets was the cheapest for what we wanted, but I am wondering if their current rates will still be in effect when we get there 5 months from now??? (I don't want to order online and have them mailed to me) CAA has the cards right there so you don't need to get it far in advance, so I am thinking that may be the best idea.

Thoughts??
