Hello fellow Disers! I have not posted in forever due to the fact that my kiddos are growing up and we have been cruising the past couple of years; that is the only way I can bribe my college son to go on vacation with us;)

Well, I have had the perfect opportunity to go on a whirlwind wham bam trip to DL during spreak break next month; DS15 is going to California on his high school band trip during that week, and his band was to march in the parade on that Monday at 2:00; it was on his band calendar all year long; DH and I were going to fly up to CA after we dropped him off Saturday morning (no chaperoning and long bus drive for us, bad mom and dad we are) and fly back home Tuesday morning; it was perfect in the fact that DH and I could only get Mon and Tues off that week from work; well, yesterday the final band trip calendar arrived and they had a change of plans; the band is now going to march in the parade on Tuesday at 2:00 that week; UGH; we can move our non-returnable flight from Tues morning to Tues evening, getting in at 1:00 a.m. back home; okay, that stinks but it will work; but what in the world do we do with our luggage? We have check out at 11:00 a.m. at the hotel Tuesday; we will go to DL and see DS in the parade at 2:00; then our flight would leave at 6:30; I really, really, don't want to pay for another night at the hotel just to store our luggage; please help and give me all your wonderful smart Disers suggestions; BTW my trips, short or long, never seem to go smooth; this calendar change was all par for the course, but it is costing me money; please, please HELP! Sprinkle some magical pixie dust and make this work:wizard:

No hiccup at all - you can leave your luggage at your hotel!

Almost EVERY hotel will hold your luggage for you, especially at Disneyland where they understand that many people go to the parks after checking out! Just tell the front desk and they will put it aside for you! Call ahead just for assurance, but I've never stayed anywhere that did NOT offer this service!

Depending on the hotel you stay at they might hold your bags for you in their bellhop room - just like if you get there before your room is ready.

Are the bags small enough for you to put them in the DLR lockers?

Where are you staying? Many hotels will hold your luggage for you after checkout as a courtesy.

If your hotel won't hold your luggage, how far away is your son staying from DL? Would it be possible for you to store your luggage in your sons hotel room or maybe even on their tour bus for a few hours?

I would also inquire about your hotel storing your luggage, but if that doesn't work... since you are only going for a short trip, I would say pack light, maybe do some laundry if you needed to and you could always try to store your stuff in one of the lockers in the esplanade like PP tzeitel said.

I believe the largest lockers are about $15 for all day and are 15" by 23" by 23" (dimensions I found online). I would just get yourself a locker early in the morning if you decide to go that route so that you know you have it.

Don't worry! :goodvibes You can do it! :thumbsup2

First, like others have said, check with your hotel, because most will hold it for you without charge. If yours won't....consider changing hotels to one that will (so long as the new hotel isn't more expensive of course).

Second idea: How big is your luggage. DL/DCA have several sizes of lockers:
Small 12"x x 18"h x 12.6"d - $7 All Day (All locations)
Large 12.5" x18 " x 19" - $10 All Day (All locations)
X-Large 15" x 25 " x 19 " - $11 All Day (All locations)
Jumbo 15" x 25" x 25" - $12 All Day (Inside picnic area only)
Super Jumbo 18" x 25" x 37" - $15 All Day (Inside picnic area only)

As other posters said, I will be surprised if the hotel will not hold your luggage. The other option would be to take it to DS's hotel room but call your hotel first. Where are you staying?

Ya'll are awesome! I never knew a hotel offered this service - we are staying at the Doubletree at 100 The City Drive - they offered free shuttle to Disneyland and it was a pretty good price - my son is staying at the Marriott Airport so that wasn't an option - and knowing our overpacking skills I do not know about a locker - here's hoping the Doubletree is one of those magical hotels - thank you so very much!

I can't imagine the Doubletree wouldn't--besides they give you chocolate chip cookies!

You're in luck! I just went to the website for your hotel (Doubletree at 100 The City Drive) and they do list "luggage hold" as one of their hotel services! Worries be gone! :wizard:

Sonnyjane: Luggage hold is my pixie dust for the day - thanks again! I am now relieved and so looking forward to my short stay - if anyone is there on Tuesday during Spring Break give a big shout out to the mighty Ranger Band from Smithson Valley High School - 2:00 parade everyone! I am so beyond excited - even a short trip is better than no trip which is what I have had for a while - THANK YOU DISERS

I don't about Disney but some places I've been (Hawaii for example) the hotel will not only hold your bag but check you in for your flight and deliver your bags to the airline. This is more common with upscale hotel than with mom and pops but check with your hotel anyway.
