Any American Girl codes??

That is really interesting that AG is trying to target teens with BeForever.
The historical line/ 18" dolls were originally made for girls 8+, with Bitty Baby Target to 7 and below, I guess I figured Pleasant Company was trying to get girls 8-13 or so (and now I see kids with the 18" dolls when they are like 3...). Going for 13-19 is pretty ballsy, especially now that kids are playing with all kinds of dolls even less. I think the 7-13 market would have made more sense.

And I wouldn't be shocked at all that they sell HUGE numbers more of the modern dolls than the historical dolls. I rarely see kids with historical anymore, and those who have them have generally not read the books. Mattel made the AG line from something expensive but educational to something that is just really an expensive version of the dolls available everywhere else.

We've been collecting them for years, as we have four daughters. Oldest is 19, youngest just turned four. I've tried buying cheaper dolls at toys r us, target, etc..and find they are not half the doll. The skin marks easy and the hair and ugly scalp is easy seen on the imitations. I really feel that AG dolls quality is as good now as fifteen years ago. I do hate the new name for the historical dolls, and would hate to see them go. I appreciate a company that allows young girls to stay young a little longer. Girls are old so quick these days, and AG makes playing with dolls "cool". My only complaint is the price of the outfits. Wow!!!

This is how I feel as well. My DDs enjoy collecting and playing with the dolls. We have 11 total (I know... yikes!) 5 GoTYs, 4 historicals, and 2 Just Like Me. Oh, and a Bitty.

DD11 still asked for one last Christmas. A friend commented about why I would buy her a doll when she's too old to play with it. I thought that was exactly the reason I would spend $100! If she wants to be a little girl just a while longer, I'm all for it. She didn't want anything else. She mostly just does their hair and dresses them up. She doesn't really "play" out scenarios or take them places anymore (although she will play with DD9 occasionally). I know she will outgrow it soon enough, and I'll miss buying ridiculously expensive doll clothing and accessories.
