Are there any advice in securing a resort reservation at a resort that is not your home resort? I have been looking, and usually that first day is already booked, but the other days following that is available...but I can't even book those days.

Any tricks/advice you may have is greatly appreciated!!! Thank you!! :flower:

You could wait list the entire trip. I have seen this a lot at the 7 month mark. It cannot be just people walking their reservations as it would sometimes show more than just the first day is not available. I am beginning to think is it a systems problem.

Yes...I thought of wait listing my stay...so if the first 1 (or 2) day/s are not available, but day 2/3 on to day 6/7 of our stay is available, and I wait list that. And the next day, can I call ms and switch my wait list/reservation to reflect the new dates?

You can cancel a wait list and make a new one online. I am pretty sure MS would do the same.

Do you know if I can transfer my wait list into a reservation the following day, since that's the next day where I can rightfully book a reservation? B/c if I cancel my waitlist and book a new reservation, is be in the same boat I started w/the day before, where my first day is unavailable, so I can't book my trip...

Maybe my option is really just waitlist and pray...??

If you want a 7 day reservation, and day 1 is unavailable on the 7 month mark, you can waitlist the whole stay - day 1-7.

The next day, if days 2-7 are available, your waitlist will not match if day 1 is still unavailable. You can book days 2-7 though if you catch it quick enough and then cancel the 7 day waitlist and put in one for only day 1.

If the first day is always unavailable at the 7 month mark, it means owners who are still in their 11 month booking priority are booking the day first.

Your only options are to waitlist and be online before 8:00 am, and be ready to try and grab an open villa right at 8:00 when booking opens.

Of course, in addition to creating a waitlist for the entire stay (opened on the 1st day of your 7-month window), you could also consider a different unit type/view or resort. Often the 1BR units book more slowly than studio units in resorts offering a 1BR layout.

book your home resort at 11 months, then at 7 month wait list the entire trip, if it's not available.
You are finding out why you should buy where you want to stay.

Thank you everyone for all your help and advice!! Truly appreciate you all taking the time to respond!! :flower:
