Hi all,

First time flying with NWA - any comments??
What's a plane CR4 - i'm guessing it's relatively small... ?

Thanks!

I like NWA alot. The CR4 are small, but the ride is smoother than I expected. I wouldn't like a long trip in it, but a few hours is OK :earsboy:

Click on this link http://www.nwa.com/travel/trave/seatm/ and scroll down until you get to the Canadian Regional Jet picture. Click on CR4 and you'll see a seat map. The plane is quite small, but not too bad.

NWA is what we fly most often. Just flew Lansing to Minneapolis and back over the weekend. Everything was fine. The employees were fantastic this time -- really friendly and helpful. I'm not sure if that was strike related or what. (They aren't usually mean or anything, but we were just really impressed with the attitude this time.)

Hope this helps.

As posted, CR4s are small, but it shouldn't be too bad for a couple of hours.

Be forwarned, however, about the lack of bin space. The last time I flew on a CR4, many bags had to be gate-checked because they wouldn't fit. So plan on taking a smaller than normal carryon with only essentials.

I personally have no problems with Northwest and enjoy flying with them-- which is a good thing since they have the only non-stop to Orlando from my town--

Northwest probably won't feed you, so bring something on board with you if you're flight will be over a mealtime.

NWA dominates our area (Mpls-St Paul) and there's lots of Northworst bashing that goes on, especially with the current strike.

Generally speaking, they're as good as any other airline. So much depends on your flight crew and as long as they're not Minneapolis-based, you'll probably have a great experience.

I have a question about NWA... I am flying out in 31 days and I was looking at the seating assignment. There are only about 12 seats that aren't marked as occupied. Of course, they are all "premium" seats that I can't select. I guess I'm just nervous about not getting on the flight. I never have flown NWA, so I don't know what to expect. We have a DD7, they won't seperate her from us, will they?

Try checking in 24 hours in advance of departure online and change your seats if possible. If not, then get to the airport early and get seats there. They do everything they can to seat families together. I agree with the other poster who said that there is not alot of storage space on those planes and gate checking luggage means that they actually put your items inside the bottom of the plane as you are boarding. You can see them doing it, which makes it almost impossible to lose!

Yes, check in on-line 24 hours in advance and you'll typically see many more available seats. When I made our reservation, DD10 was in the row ahead of me. I figured we were close enough even if things didn't work out. (I never told DD about this since I didn't want her to worry.) Anyway, there were many open seats the day before and we had no trouble switching. Similar thing happened for return flight.
