My sister is looking for a hotel that is

1. Romantic
AND
2. As quiet as possible

Is there any such thing?

Not anywhere near WDW.

Seriously, that's a good question. I know exactly what you mean - a place that isn't crawling with children running up and down the halls, splashing in the pool, crying babies etc. Unfortunately, I don't have any to recommend. Maybe someone else can help.

My guess would be that the farther you can get from Disney, the better your chances will be. There are some nice hotels in the city of Orlando that might fit the need. And its always been my experience when traveling in other cities that the pricier the hotel, the less likely there is to be a lot of kids since young families are usually staying at less expensive places. Another place to look if you don't mind a drive to Disney is along the Gulf Coast.

Good luck.

Steve

P.S. I just read another post saying the Celebration Hotel is very nice and doesn't attract many families so check that out.

I agree with the above comments. A convention hotel may be more likely to attract adults than families. Consider Gaylord Palms or Marriott Orlando World Center or similar.

BWI is supposed to have fewer kids, families are more apt to select BC/YC for SAB.

I'd think the Peabody would have fewer kids.

if you want on WDW property - romantic - WL/VWL - WL has lots of children - so does VWL - but the way the building is constructed they are less like to bother you.

Now Orlando has a fair amount of business hotels - the Reniassance hotel is one, so is the Peabody, the new Gaylord Palms would be one too.

tell your sister to look for hints - if the hotels charges less for weekends than weekdays - then it is a business hotels (less business guest on the weekends) - also these hotels can have great sales on the holiday weekends - another give away.

disney has some business hotels but these also have great pools for kids - so they stay busy - yc/bc, bw/bwv, csr - the only business hotel that does not have a great pool Cont - has a great view of the MK. you are less likely to find discounts at a WDW resort.

This really depends on what time of year you are visiting. Hotels should be OK when kids are in school but otherwise expect every hotel to have kids.

To more or less guarantee peace, you need a vacation home in a quiet neighbourhood.

Thanks for all your info folks! She ended up renting a vacation home in Indian Ridge Oaks. I told her it wouldn't be an easy search but she's satisfied with her choice :)
