I saw on the news now that some part of Texas is having an ant invasion where they are everywhere:eek: . Is anyone on this board having this problem? It looked really gross and I would probably never leavemy house if I had this problem.:earseek:

I haven't noticed any more ants than usual here in the Dallas area. However, after all of the rain and flooding, I am expecting an invasion of mosquitos. :(

I found some ants in my cats' food bowls (in the house) yesterday, and last week I had to deal with a fire ant mound out in the yard. The fire ants are nothing new, but the ants in the house are something new this year. Maybe I've been invaded?

No problems here, thank goodness.

About 6 months ago, we got ants in the house really bad. We finally hired pest control people to get rid of them. It took a couple of weeks for the baits to work, but I haven't had an ant yet.

Fire ants!! Yikes, they seem to be everywhere!

This is the first I've heard of it. Way down in this part of Texas it's no worse than usual. And I don't see how even the ants could survive this heat!

I mowed the lawn today, and apparently my attempt to get rid of the fire ants last week didn't work. Usually the stuff I have gets rid of them, but they started crawling all around when I mowed over their mound :(.

Thye are probably talking about fire ants, which have been a big problem in Texas for years.

I didn't hear all of the news story, but it sounded like with all the rain and flooding they expect the fire ants to get very active along the I35 corridor (San Antonio to Dallas) and in Houston. We have regular pest control anyway, hopefully that will keep them at bay.

they showed them on tv and they were all over this guys driveway.he was sweeping big piles of these ants with the heavy duty janator brooms

Since last year I have used Over and Out, I only need to treat my yard once and no ant mounds. I also put it around the base of the house and I don't see but 1 or 2 every now and again.

I live in Central Illinois and everyone I know has an ant problem..thank God they're not fire ants though!

under normal rain conditions they are bad, i usually get 4 - 6 mounds after a day of rain. i decided to try over and out this year and even after a week long rain i just mowed today, (finally kind of dry enough for it), only saw three new mounds in the whole yard, so now i'll get out the orthene and attack those.

but i'm sure that with all the rain around here some people are inundated with the buggers.
