The WDW half next year will be my very first half marathon. And I haven't done any races of any length yet (will do before the half, but not before I need to register). So what should I put down as my anticipated time? Any suggestions on how to figure this?

Thanks!

Put down whatever you feel, however if you put down you plan to finish earlier that 2 hours and 45 min then you have to provide proof of time from a race and I think its from a 10k or longer. You can always change this after you register even at the expo. You just bring your proof of time and they will change your start corral so no need to worry too much.

So anything I put as long as it's longer than 2h45m doesn't matter? Everyone goes into the same group after that?

Pretty much that is it. If you don't have proof that you can finish at or under 2hour 45 min for the Half then you are usually put in the last corral. Hey there will be LOTS of people in that corral. Don't worry too much as there are lots of WISHer that enjoy being in the back of the pack and will keep you company until you feel the need to speed on by.
If you are worried about staying ahead of the sweeps then try to be in the front to middle of the corral because the sweeper time start when the LAST person crosses the start line, so will have a bit of a cushion. But it's kinda early to worry, so just get out there and train. If you find that you are faster than the time you put down originally then bring proof to the EXPO and they will change your corral.

Hope that helps you,
Tracy

I just complete my first 1/2 marathon (disney princess) and I put that I would finish in 3hours and I was in corral B (there was ABC) I did no training (I know I am silly!) so walked and ran and did it in 3.04. But dont worry the corrals are HUGE so even if you think you might be in the wrong one you get get to the front or the back and I think people seem to even out along the 13 mile course, they just do it so us happy fun runners dont get in the way of the serious runners ( you will notice these by the fact that they dont smile/wear costumes/arent in pain! but mainly by the fact that they are running back to EPCOT as you run to MK!!!)

Good luck in your first race, its an amazing experience!

Thanks so much for all the great info. Tracy and Kirsty-Leigh! You are a huge help. :)
