Another yard sale question

I have been taking note of all the great advice for holding a yard sale on this board and I think I will try one next month. I've read though to mark up my prices 100% because people will offer less than what you're asking. Do people always try to talk you down? I'm just having trouble deciding how to price things. I don't want to seem like I'm asking too much (i.e. I have an exersaucer that has been through five kids--I think $5.00 is reasonable, there's still life left in it, but I'm afraid if someone sees it marked $10.00 they'll just pass it by.). Help!!!

Don't mark it up. Price it to sell, get rid of things you don't need.

Price to sell. I sold a lot and most people paid what I was asking. I think they only offer less if your prices are too high. (Of course there are always a few who will offer a dime if something is $.15!). $5.00 for the saucer seems fine. Also, I cleaned everything first. Clean things sell much better which may seem obvious but we've all seen garage sales where the stuff is filthy and you wouldn't buy it even if the price is good (just my opinion of course). I'd have to say 75% of my stuff sold for what is was marked. If you don't want to take what they offer just say no. Some people around here resale garage sale stuff and want it for dirt cheap. I'd say mark what you want and stick to it, unless you're on your last day and want to get rid of it. I told several people to come back on Sat and if I still had it, I'd go less.
