DS's XBox360 etched a line all the way around his Modern Warfare 2 game disc. Has this happened to anyone else and if so did it just happen the one time or is it an ongoing issue with the system? I'm going to contact Microsoft/XBox and see what they say but I thought I would check to see if anyone else had ever experienced this. Please tell me I don't have to replace his XBox.

We have had our XBOX for 3 years and never had the problem you have.

We did get the red rings twice though.

When we first got the xbox it ate 2 of DS's games. We sent it back to Microsoft and they repaired the xbox. They did not replace the 2 games though. Thankfully it has been fine since then.

There have been reports of the disc warped, bad batch . if you can return the disc.

u could say, “I got this game for a gift and it doesn’t work, may I exchange it for a new copy?”
They will say, “do you have the receipt?”
You will say, “Why no sir/ma’am, I’m afraid I do not have the receipt as it was a gift and the person that gave it to me seems to have lost or misplaced it.”
They should say, “That’s OK, let’s get you a new game.”
VERY IMPORTANT (in the future after December 10th)…they will say, “did you get this gift in the last 30 days?” YOU SAY “YES I DID!!”

also you can try , but i dont seeing this helping you much.
it’s something to do with the Cache
simple fix
1, go to System Settings on the dashboard
2, select memory (until is show’s your hard drive and free memory)
3, press Y to bring up device options
4, then select clear system Cache
(a message box will appear saying this will perform maintenance etc etc)
5, Click yes and that should sort the problem.

thanks for your suggestions:thumbsup2

I did take the disc in to EB Games where I got it. They do have me on record as buying it there because I pre-ordered. They told me there was nothing they could do and didn't offer to replace the disc. They told me to go to Best Buy because they may be able to repair the disc. Went to Best Buy, they told me the disc was hooped and then offered to replace the it. And of course, me being debilitatingly honest, I told her I didn't buy it there. :sad2:

My primary concern right now is to see if it was in fact the game system that ruined the disc or if it was just a faulty disc. Hopefully it doesn't happen again.

That happened to me about a year ago. I was so mad that I made a video of it.

At first they didn't want to exchange the game and just tried to buff the scratches out. Of course that didn't work so they eventually replaced it (Game Crazy).

I didn't trust that 360 after that so I traded it in and just bought a new one. I haven't had any problems with the new one so far.

Modern Warfare 2 just came out, so I don't see why they wouldn't replace it for you.

According to Microsoft the 360 scratches the discs like that when it is moved or standing upright. Mine was neither so I don't think those are accurate reasons lol.

its the cds themselves that are causing the problem. Your machince should still be fine.. Wish xbox would get on the ball about this. The batch out seems to be working perfectly. I would send a firm letter to eb games head office or call. They should have a record of how many of the war games that have been returned.

try wally world.. they take anything back ;)

OK, totally OT but I love how you have your trips to the MOA in your signature-it's hard to picture the MOA as a vacation destination--although I know full well that it is--for us it is just a place to shop :lmao:.

That's what ours looks like and exactly what Microsoft said in their email back to me. So now I'm not sure if it is the game disc or of it is the XBox. DS is still sleeping so I haven't been able to ask him if they moved the system while they were playing.

Incidentally, I really enoyed playing Fable 2 as well :thumbsup2

We are going back to EB Games today and I am going to tell them that Best Buy offered to replace the disc and that they should get with the program and do the same. If that doesn't work they have an offer that if you bring in two games to trade you can buy MW2 for $15.

Thanks for your help :goodvibes
