My husband and I just returned from a fabulous trip to WDW. We're expecting our first baby in late July so we decided to take a trip and enjoy some time together before our bundle of joy arrives.
The Cast:
Me (32) - I'm a huge Disney fan. I worked at the Disney-MGM Studios one summer in college while participating in the Disney College Program. I've been to WDW many times and visit these message boards all the time. I bought into the Disney Vacation Club even before I was married
DH (33) - Not quite as big of a Disney fan as I am but he really enjoys WDW and is becoming an expert on theme park strategies.
Day 1:
We flew down on Southwest Friday evening (3/31). Our flight went well. We jumped on the Magical Express bus and were at our resort pretty quickly. We decided to stay at Pop Century for the first two nights of our trip as I had never stayed there before and I like to try out all of the resorts. We had a quick dinner in the food court and walked around the resort. We were in the 80's building so we were a quick walk to the main building and bus stops.
The only glitch we encountered was related to our luggage. After 4 hours, we called luggage services to find out when our luggage would be delivered by Magical Express. They said that they never scanned our luggage at the airport and didn't know where our bag was located. They didn't seem very concerned about finding our luggage. We called Southwest and they said that Disney never picked up our bag so they had it in their lost luggage department. We called Magical Express and told them to go get our bag from Southwest. Our bag was finally delivered to our room at 2:00 am. The good news is that we finally got our bag.
Day 2:
The weather was warm (mid-80s and sunny) so we decided to go to Typhoon Lagoon. As I'm expecting, I couldn't ride any of the raft rides but we still enjoyed our day at TL. We spent quite a bit of time in the Lazy River and relaxing in the sun. DH rode several raft rides and the Crushin' Gusher. We opened the park so the crowds weren't bad at all for the first couple of hours were were there. We had lunch at Leaning Palms.
In the evening, we went to DTD and did some shopping for our new baby girl. We had dinner at the Earl of Sandwich. We both enjoyed our sandwiches and plan to go there again on our next trip.
Day 3:
We checked out of Pop and took a cab to the Villas at the Wilderness Lodge early Sunday morning. We quickly dropped off our luggage and checked in and then hopped on a boat to the MK so we could be there for the opening. As soon as the park opened, DH zipped back to Space Mountain and I made my way to Fantasy Land. We enjoyed several attractions before having lunch at LTT. LTT was good but overall I'd say that we both agreed that Crystal Palace is still our favorite table service restaurant at the MK. After lunch, we took a several hour break back at the WL. We headed back in the evening to watch Wishes and SpectroMagic. It was EMH at the MK that evening so we stayed until around 1:30 am. The crowds were bad but we were still able to do everything we wanted to do because we got there early and took advantage of EMH. All in all, we had a great day and enjoyed perfect weather. Now that we're expecting our first baby, we both really noticed all of the cute little babies riding in strollers at the MK
Day 4:
This was a day for relaxing. Again, the weather was absolutely beautiful. We had lunch at the Poly but spent most of the day relaxing by the quite pool at the WL. We absolutely love the WL. The Villas at the WL is our home DVC resort so perhaps I am a little biased! We went to Boma's at the AKL for dinner. We got there just as the sun was setting and got to see several animals running around in the savannah.
Day 5:
We opened the AK. DH got to ride EE. He was very impressed. We had lunch at Flame Tree BBQ. Wow, the servings are huge there. We could barely finish our lunches. After lunch, we headed over to Epcot and walked around the World Showcase. We rode Soarin' and had dinner at Le Cellier. Le Cellier was probably the best meal we had at Disney. BTW, we were on the Disney Dining Plan and found it to be a great value. If you plan to eat at a nice table service restaurant everyday, I believe the Disney Dining Plan is a good value. It was nice to not have to think about how much were were spending on food. DH and I both thought it was kind of like being on a cruise in that your food is taken care of in advance.
Day 6:
Another day for relaxing. We spent the day enjoying the beautiful weather by hanging out at the pool at the WL. We enjoyed dinner at the Whispering Canyon Cafe. This was another fabulous day at WDW.
Day 7:
Time to go home
We hopped on the Magical Express bus around 2:00. We had a fantastic time from start to finish. The weather was warm and sunny our entire trip. The crowds were pretty bad but it didn't slow us down one bit.
One of the great things about being a DVC member is that you always know another Disney trip is around the corner. We're planning another trip to WDW with my family (parents, sisters and their families) next May. We can hardly wait!!!!
