Another Waitlist Question

I really tried to find answer but couldn't. We have a regular room booked on points at DL Paradise Pier because a studio at CGV was not available. Can I wait list and if comes thru they will switch the reservation like if it was a DVC reservation? I do have enough points to waitlist without having o make the switch but would rather not. But, if I have to waitlist it separately how far in advance CFO I have to cancel at Paradise Pier to have the points put back in my account and will they still be bankable. I hope this makes sense. Thanks for the help.

If you cancel the Paradise Pier reservation, the points used for it can not be used for a DVC Resort reservation. These points are now Reservation Points. From the member website:

Returned Reservation Points will be deposited in to the Use Year in which the cancelled reservation falls. Returned Reservation Points may not be used for Disney Vacation Club Resort reservations or for World Passport Collection exchanges and will expire at the end of your Use Year. Returned Reservation Points cannot be banked.
