Another vent on tipping

I disagree.... we stopped having the paper delivered and now we buy maybe 2 papers a month.... I think the paper makes A LOT more money by having someone automatically deliver it to your home.... otherwise they wouldn't pay someone to do it! The consumer pays for the paper and the paper pays for the service.... a tip is VOLUNTARY (otherwise it wouldn't be a TIP it would be a fee) and there is NEVER an obligation to leave one. That being said, I used to give a gift to our paperboy during the holidays.... he worked hard and I thought he deserved one.

thats my point you gave a gift, because he worked hard for you, not because of what the paper did or did not pay him. you paid either in cash or with something you paid cash for,for his service. I said the papers circulation goes up, but how much of the papers profits come from what we pay for the paper, and how much comes from the advertising they charge for in the paper.the advertising is the main source of revinue for the company, the paper is just the vehicle that they use to deliver it to us.
