Hi, I currently have a 3 day PH for an October trip and my park days will be Thursday/Friday/Saturday.

During this visit, I plan to upgrade to a Signature AP.

Am I correct in thinking that I should use the PH to get the MM on Thursday and then upgrade as soon as feasible thereafter, so that I can take advantage of discounts? (I wouldn't necessarily go right away because I don't want to waste time at the ticket booths when lines are long, but I could come out later in the day and get it done. Or, could I go to that booth/counter to the left of the DL gates and do it there if the line is shorter? (I don't really know what that little booth/counter is)).

Also, does anyone know if I need to bring my (old, expired) plastic AP card with me? It expired in June. Seems to be mixed reviews of whether the ticket booth CMs want them or not.

Thank you!

I would bring your old AP card with you. It can't hurt. If the CM asks for it, you'll have it with you. If you want to use your MM, I agree with your idea to use it on your first day (Thursday), then upgrade for the discounts. We usually go to the booths. Just look for a time during the day when the lines are shorter.

If you have your old AP, it can't hurt to bring it with you. When we upgraded to an AP last time, the CM asked us we still had our old cards and said we should have kept them and brought them with us. I suppose from a "reduce and reuse"-perspective that makes sense, but it seemed odd to me that they would expect guests to hold onto something that has expired (like you, our's had expired a couple of months previously). She made it sound like she was doing us a favor by not charging the replacement fee for issuing new cards. So, long story, but I would bring it with you if you have it.
