Another Update on my Wife's Work Situation

Hi everyone

My wife wanted me to update you on what the latest is with her work situation.

Her doctor took her out of work for Weds due to her health. He wanted her out the rest of the week but she told him she couldn't be away from work that long at this time of the year.

While she was out, her boss asked this nutcase about his side of the story with the customer. In his version of the story, he admitted that he did get rude with the customer, but not to the extent that the customer and the other associate claim.

Anyway, DW gets a call from her boss this morning asking her what her schedule is like Monday. She tells her, then her boss asks what time this nutjob is working. DW tells her, then her boss tells her - okay, I'm coming down to fire him.

Of course, now she has to wait until Monday which is a couple of more days working with the nut and a few more days of stress in anticipation of what will happen once it does hit the fan. People are still telling her that she seriously needs to look out for her safety because they are worried this guy would come in and blow her brains out - they feel he's that unstable.

So, it's bittersweet. DW is thrilled that she can get her store back to normal and put an end to an absolute torturous 90 days. But in the same breath, she's scared of what just might happen if he goes off the deep end.

Thanks for all your good thoughts and advice, she has been so appreciative of your support, and hopes that once things calm down and her life returns to something normal, you will see her back on the boards causing her normal chaos

A nutjob getting fired shortly before Christmas-you bet she should have someone protecting her next week.

This guy sounds unstable. I would call the local police dept. and arrange for assistance-if they can give it ti you.

Is the lady that is going to fire him going to do the same?

I'm not up on all the details pf your story but it does sound like you need to protect yourselves.

I am so happy that this will finally end!

I had a nut job that worked for me several years ago. His problems started when he was a child and a man murdered his mother in front of him. He had to take the bloody phone out of her hand to call 911 after the murderer left. He never had any therapy, dropped out of school, had children with his whacko GF. He finally got full custody of the kids and got his GED. Seemed like his life was on track when I hired him.

Before he left (in his case, he just stopped coming to work) my Mom and DH were very worried about what was going to happen. Luckily, he chose to leave the area instead of going postal on us.

I hope your DW's whacko follows the same path that mine did. Mine occasionally sends me emails. He wants his job back... as if...

So, where are you taking her for dinner to celebrate on Monday night? At least a bottle of bubbly at home would be nice.

I'm glad to hear this is finally going to be over. I hope your wife's health gets better when this added stress ends. While it's common for fired employees to be angry, it's not common for them to actually follow through and retaliate. It's always good to stay on your toes though. If her store or mall has security, they should be alerted and should escort her to her car, if possible, for the next few weeks.

Glad the nutjob is being fired. Keeping your DW's safety in my thoughts and prayers. She seems like such a wonderful woman and doesn't deserve the treatment she has received.

I'm so glad to hear that she will be rid of him in a few days. Please be sure that your DW enlists the aid of her friend in the Police Dept during that day and the weeks through the holidays most especially.

I cannot believe the amount of patience your wife has shown thru this whole ordeal! So Monday is the big day? Will he also be served with a restraining order to stay away from the workplace? It sounds like the company might need that protection in place.

i just hope that once he is fired he is gone for good. i just can't understand why they are waiting until monday to do it-it just seems to be a good opening for him to file a wrongful termination suit based on the fact that it was discussed with him, he was "remorsefull", and the company allowed him to continue working with no further reported incidents-i.e. he "corrected his work behaviour" (i know this is the venue my bad employee would have taken and unfortunatly given my state of residence would have likely been reinstated).

i agree that mall security or some security authority should be made aware of a potential problem-it's in the best interest of everyone involved.

tell dw to listen to her doctor and listen to her body-even if the situation is resolved she may find that she needs some time to heal and regather her strength. given that this is a terrible time of year for viruses and the like it would be terrible if she wears her self down to the point where one of these hits and she is floored for an extended period of time.

But the drive by firing, sounds like her boss does not want to be around for any reprecussions either. I too vote that security be close by for the next few weeks. Reading all the posts on this looney if frightening enough.
