Another Towel Spinoff

No, all our towels are used.

However, if we’re having a get-together w/ lots of people (for instance, a large family get-together during the holidays), in addition to a nice hanging hand towel (which either coordinates w/ the colors of the bathroom or the holiday/season), I’ll put out a basket of disposable hand towels on the counter beside the sink in the bathroom w/ a small wastebasket near the sink for the used disposable towels.

If you have lots of people over using the same bathroom, the hanging hand towel gets damp from people using the same towel to dry their hands, & some people may prefer a dry, fresh towel as opposed to a damp towel. And some people may just prefer not drying their hands on the same towel that everyone else has used - regardless if it’s wet, dry, or in-between.

And what I’ve discovered over the years, is that most people, when they see the basket of disposable towels will assume that I prefer guests to use the disposable towels rather than the hanging towel - when I actually don’t care at all if the hanging towel is used - I’m just trying to provide a fresh, dry alternative to a used, damp towel. LOL!

My hand towels match the bathroom and the full size towels, but they are 100% to be used.

What's worse is when they hang those decorative towels that aren't to be used, but then don't provide towels that CAN be used.

There are BOXES of individual paper towels instead of just rolls of paper towels. These are not tissues for the nose. These are nice and thick for wiping hands. They aren't the thin, scratchy, industrial ones in many bathroom dispensers. I love these when I see them in the higher-end hotel bathrooms.

Insider trick: When I am at gatherings at other people’s houses I take down the hand towel, dry my hands using the inner most fold area, then fold it up nicely and put it back. I can’t help it. I don’t want to use the 4”x6” exposed area of the hand towel that 10 or 20 other people have already pat dried their hands (some of those with half washed hands).

I really don't want to get into specific cases because I think that will quickly drag the thread down and potentially get it locked.

I will agree there are people who won't listen to the other side, it's their side right or wrong.

Yes! The above is exactly what I get when we have large gatherings.

Sometimes, I get fancy & put them in a basket; while, other times, I just leave them as they are in the box.
