Another TIW question...

When do they calculate the 20% that comes off the bill? Is this pre- or post- tax and tip?

We are trying to decide if it will be cost-effective to purchase 1 AP and a TIW card for our 11-night stay (though only 10 will count, as 1 will be Wanayama Safari, which is not applicable), even though this will very most likely be our only trip within 12 months. It will cost about $340 more to do, but we think we might spend enough on dining (and wine, and "specialty drinks") to make it worth it.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

The discount is 20%; the gratuity is 18%.

The tip is calculated on the pre-discounted check, and pre-tax. Simple example:

Check is $100. Eighteen percent of that is $18. Tax is 6.5%, or $6.50. Discount is 20% off the $100, or $80.

$80 + $18 + $6.50 = $104.50. Undiscounted total would have been $124.50.

For some reason I think the tax is on the after discount amount. I figured out a few of our bills last ttips and I thought that's how it was.

That is correct. A $100 Bill would be calculated:

$100 - Food
$20 - Discount
$18 - Tip
$5.20 - Tax

$103.20 - Total Due

You are right though Ronda, it's closed due to the tipping discussion.
