Another tipping question

That doesn't sound very convenient, but thanks, CraftyMouse.

It's really pretty easy. You will probably go by Guest Services at least 5 or 6times a day, since it is in the main lobby of the ship.

I opted to prepay my gratuities. That way when I splurge on my cruise I won't feel like being cheap to my wonderful wonderful servers. Last time I cruised I pre paid as well and also gave my servers extra because they were so great. My room host was the BEST! pirate:

Guest Services is located on Deck 3, Midship. You'll be by there 20 times a day. It really isn't inconvenient at all and only takes a couple of minutes.

When we cruised last year, our friends considered not tipping the recommended amount for their family of 5 because they thought it was too much. In the end, they appreciated everything that was done for them and didn't feel that the tipping was too much at all.

Cast Members on the DCL deserve every dollar that they get and more.

I also prepay my gratuities before I even board the ship. It's one less thing I have to look at on my stateroom bill. If it is warranted I will give extra in cash in the provided envelopes along with the vouchers.

I think all that they would need to do is go to the customer service desk (the night before the final night) and they can make the change there. You should be able to check on this when you board.

DCL does not automatically charge the gratuities to your stateroom account like some of the other cruise line do.

I am about to take my first DC and have found this to be an interesting topic. I am so thankful for the tipping guidelines and have taken into account all the added advice from previous cruisers. I agree that the servers/cabin stewards probably do work hard for what they get and should be tipped based on THEIR service alone. My DD is a server in a local restuarant and I can tell you that they are not paid well by their employer and they rely heavily on tips to make a living, most of which then have to be split with other staff members at the restaurant. Most people simply do not realize this and think well that person just made 10 off me alone for an hours worth of service but that generally is not the case, by the time they tip out to other staff members they only get a portion. I typically find myself making up for my other family members who do not share my view on tipping.

We had an amazing server and room person, the last cruise I tipped advised amount, this time I gave them extra, Our server Leslie from India was really amazing, I cant even begin to tell you.I mentioned once that i liked curry, i got curry on the side every night, if i could not decide what sweet, I would pick one but he would turn up with 2 extra anyway, once I dropped my fork in my food,I looked around for something to wipe it, he shouts from the next table"Miss Lynne, I will get you a new one, hold on" He was great with my niece, she drove him nuts bringing her friend to dinner, asking for mickey bars and ceasar salad! I could never imagine not tipping him.
All you cruise experts, is it worth asking for him the next cruise, he did say he was looking forward going to Europe.
We also had Leslie and Charlie. Loved them. Made my daughter feel extra special every night. The earned their tip plus more!
