I didn't want this tip to get lost in the one of the other sick threads. I've read this somewhere, and I found an article to back it up. The article is from webmd and is specifically about preventing illness while traveling.

You can find probiotics (also called acidophilus, which is one of the many probiotics) at your local drugstore in the supplements area (with the vitamins and minerals). It usually has to be refrigerated after opening, so pack an unopened bottle to open after you get to your destination (and have access to a fridge). I have even found a chewable form form for kids and a powdered form for infants and toddlers. Buy a reputable brand as this is one of those items not regulated by the FDA.
This is the same stuff that is in yogurt with live active cultures, and one of the reasons that yogurt is so often considered one of the top healthy foods.
Disclaimer: I'm not an expert.
