Hey guys!

Quick question for the pros!

I was thinking about getting a tally of family and friends that would be interested in attending my DFTW

Depending on how many are willing to plane, train, and automobile themselves from Rhode Island to WDW will decide between Escape or Custom for me.

While I don't want to turn anyone away, I also don't want to put anyone on the spot so to speak ...

Has anyone else had this problem?
How did you handle it?

Guest count could be anywhere from 12-50 so this is a bit tricky but well worth it!

I was thinking about sending very informal invites (from me, not Disney) with a note of some sort included asking if they would be game for a wedding like this, I would include a very tentative month and week range for them to check schedules, with work, travel arrangements etc...

I know Disney helps with this, but I would imagine before anything like that would occur, I would need to have already picked the wedding type from them and made deposits and so on.....

Open to suggestions please!

Thanks in advance

~Jenn

i think if you send out something outlining your plans with a tentative RSVP on it, explaining that you need to know roughly how many people will be attending, most people will be ok with it will give you a rough idea of if they will attend

You could do it as a wedding announcement and say that you're getting married in WDW and enclose an interest card. Just asking people if they think they would be able to attend. Of course it wouldn't be a definite number but it would give you a ballpark figure. I think a month and year would be enough to just gague interest datewise.

I think the announcement and interest card is a great idea. I'm having this problem as well were I could either end up having an intimate or a custom depending on how many people can make it.
I think this a good way to give a "heads up" to your guests and then you can at least a ballpark figure of who will be coming. Then you can figure out if you will be having an intimate or a custom wedding.

I'm having a similar problem, but since we're getting married in six months, we need to know our dates and times ASAP (as do our guests, so they can make travel plans!). We decided to go ahead and pick a date that we like and think will work for people (it's over a 3-day weekend). Next we have to decide whether we want an Escape or a Wishes wedding and invite that number of people.

If we go for Wishes and not enough people accept, we can always change to Escape (I just turned up a post where a bride said her WC told her that tons of people flip-flop between Wishes and Custom - usually it's after they see the total dollar amount of their Wishes BEO! :rotfl: )

We originally sent out a little newsletter, kinda like the save the date,
but with a bit more information on it
We enclosed a rsvp cards with :
planning to attend
Not able to attend
Still deciding

That helped us get an estimated number. But just keep in mind that people can still change their minds before the actual invites go out. Just use it as a base number so you can get things rollin'!
