another ticket upgrade question

I've read what I can find about this and want to see if I'm understanding correctly. Any help would be appreciated. I have an unused 4 day park hopper that I purchased a few years ago at my military installation. I am wanting to upgrade that when we go in 3 weeks. My question is this: Do they take the value of my ticket and just subtract that from the new one I want and I pay the difference? Or do they give me a 4 day base MYW ticket and I pay the difference from that to what I'm wanting? Either way it's a good deal. I'm just curious.

Hey!
Can you tell me more about the ticket that you have?
Because there are a few certain tickets that are not upgradable.
Usually they will try to work with you tho.
Just make sure you bring the receipt for that ticket, if you still have it, so they can give you credit for the FULL amount you paid. Because when they
swipe the ticket, all they will see is the price it was sold at originally, which will most likely be lower than what you paid!

The ticket I bought was a regular 4 day park hopper with no plusses. I bought it a year or two before the MYW came out through my base ticket office. I do have the original receipt with it.

Don't forget that you can also try and upgrade the ticket at SOG. You might be able to do it there, and if so will save a little more money. When we got this years PAPs and reg MYW 10day+s NE, they said that if we were going to get 1-9 day MYW tickets to make sure we ONLY upgraded the military tickets at SOG so we would get credit for the full price we paid.

However, last year, 2005, we got MYW tickets from our local base, and we did NOT use SOG to upgrade them... we used Disney. We got credit for more money then we had paid for them... and when I pointed this out to the WDW CM they said that they had to go with what the computer said.... so :confused3 ?

This year we also used some old PH tickets we still had. Last year we took all of the tickets we had down with us, about 6 or 7 of them. And we had a CM at ECPOT run them to find out what was still usable on them... and then we wrote on the back the days and +s still useable on each ticket. And as we used them we marked off the day or + we had used. We were very carefull, almost compulsive about it all.... Well this year we tried to use some of the tickets and low and behold, 3 of them were "empty" of days and +s... and we had not used them.... so who knows what happened!? We had checked the tickets the last day of the last trip down in 2005, and have no idea why the tickets showed usable days/+s then but not in Feb and May of this year. ( DH took some in Feb and when 1 or 2 didn't work but should have he took different ones in May... and then we rechecked one of the "empty" ones from Feb and it was then good...so that is the first one he used up!)

We have had tickets checked at some of the resorts and been told they were useable, and when we walked from the Cont. to MK we found out the ticket was not useable... all in a matter of a 10-20 min walk!? :confused3 So we asked at MK, "Why did the Cont. desk show that the ticket have days/+s on it and now it doesn't?" and were told that some of the resorts gave "false" reading... but the Parks were ALWAYS correct... hahahah NOT! we used that ticket at a different park a day or 2 latter.

So it is all very confusing... and in May of this year we were told at MK, ECPOT and DTD that all old Park Hopper tickets could be used but no longer upgraded... we did not have the orginal reciept... and you might be able to do so... check at several parks, and DTD, and best of luck! :goodvibes

I am planning on using up three old PH that still have a day each on them. I am very worried that when I get there, we will be told that they have nothing on them and we will have to shell out $$ for new PH's. I had the tickets checked in May and the days were there, but I am still worried.
