Another Ticket Question

We are new members, we just bought 400 points in Animal Kingdom. With that we were given 400 developer points to SSR. DH and I are making our first trip down solo in April. We will be staying for 4 days so will need a 4 day ticket - park hopper option only. Then again in August, our whole family of 4 will go for ten days, we will all need a 10 day ticket - park hopper and water park options.

DH & I are so confused as to what would be the best way to buy tickets. We are leaning to buying 4 day park hoppers and then upgrading them to AP while we are there but DH wants to know what the benefit of that is vs just buying an AP to begin with.

If you buy the hopper pass at one of the discount places and use it one day before exchanging it for your DVC AP, you will pay less in total because the discounted pass will be given the full value when you exchange it, and not the discounted value. The key is to use it one day first.
