What should we do about tickets. We are staying on-site, arriving early enough on day 1 that we will want to hit the parks. I would like to have 5 days worth of
tickets with park to park access. Which is more cost effective?
  • Should I purchase 4 day tickets and then add a day once we arrive?
  • Should I purchase annual passes? The block out dates would not affect us, but we will not be back in time to use them again and don't see much in the way of rewards for the first level of passes?
I know there are several experts on this board, what would you suggest?

I should add that I looked at the 4 park ticket for $149.99 and have no idea what a one day upgrade would cost, have tried to find a way to add a day on Universal's site.
The annual pass comparison is the Power Pass and is $159.99.
Is there a perk that I am missing if I choose the ticket option over the annual pass?

Power Passes are only for FL residents so your cheapest AP option would be the Preferred at $229.99 plus tax. I don't see an option to do five days...just four or seven. I'm not sure if you purchased the four day tickets if you would have to purchase a one day ticket or if there is something Guest Services can do to prorate the fifth day. If you purchased one Preferred AP you would get discounts on park food and merchandise as well as the hotel rate so it might be worth it to get at least one AP.

Thank you. :) Shoot I did not realize that about the power pass. Bummer.
So get one AP and buy the other tickets when we get there? I already purchased the room, but I am sure they would work with me if an AP rate came out.

Yes...as a passholder, you can purchase up to six additional tickets for 15% for multiple days...10% for single days. If you show your activated AP at the hotel desk, they should be able to reduce your rate to the AP rate.
