It was irritating enough when school started 3 weeks ago. But in the light of today's gas prices, this is really beginning to bother me.
I sit in a carpool line that begins about an hour before school lets out. (Yes, I am one of THOSE moms) They bring the kids outside at about 3:00 to wait for their rides in 95 degreee heat, so I try to be one of the first in line so they don't have to sit there for 1/2 hour in that heat. (Last year's school had them waiting inside until their ride came up to the doors. I left the house at the time school was released then!) People are sitting there with their cars/SUVs idling with the AC blasting for over an hour!! Every school day!! Granted, it is sweltering sitting there, but I refuse to burn gas at $3.20+/gallon and waste it like that...So I sit there and sweat and go home and take a shower.
Multiply all those gallons X the number of cars X 5 days/week...don't people think???
