my aunt was the victim of a purse snatching friday. as she was walking in her neighborhood, a guy ran up behind her, knocked her down and grabbed her bag. another guy helped her up and said he'd run after the purse snatcher. (turns out the second guy was a confederate of the crook.) she reported the crime to the police, and they told her to call back on sunday to get a copy of the complaint they filed.
the next day, the same thing happened to my aunt's friend --- at the very same intersection.
when my aunt called the police on sunday, they were happy to hear from her -- they wanted her to come down to the police station to identify the guys who robbed her.
no one has confirmed it, but my suspicion is that the police staked out the intersection where my aunt was robbed, and caught the guys in the act.
if you're going to be a purse snatcher, at least have the good sense to find a different location each time you commit a robbery.
