My dh and I had already discussed getting 2 Mac Volo strollers for our trip in November - we even went to the store and put the children in it and pushed them around to see how easy it was. My dd will be a month short of 3 and my ds with be 5.5. This morning I asked when we were going to get the strollers. He said said we only needed one since ds5 won't need a stroller. I asked him if he really thought ds would be able to walk 9 straight days at WDW without one and he said yes. Has anyone taken a child this age, not used a stroller and the child was fine walking? He does just fine for single day trips (zoo, amusement park, museum, etc). I can see the 2 of them fighting over the one stroller the entire trip.

Please no fighting over the appropriate/inappropriate age for children to use strollers.

No way would I just take one stroller! My kids are 2 and 4, and I will be using a double stroller. Back in May, a friend & I took my oldest and her daughter, and we went without a stroller for 2 of the 3 days - the 3rd day, when we rented the stroller, was definitely a better day, and her DD was 5. Even if your 5 year old walks much of the time, I think it's worth it to have the ability for her to rest as she needs to - better than having a cranky child on your hands or having to carry her around!

There is no way my DS5 would use a stroller anywhere at home. We live 1 1/2 miles from our elementary school and we walk. And there is no way I'd go to WDW without some type of stroller for him.

He hasn't used a stroller isnce turning 3, but he did at WDW at 3 & 4. He also hasn't napped since shortly after turning 2, but he does at WDW. It's a whole different ballgame there. They get much more tired, even though the walking is isn't solid--they are still on their legs. Plus, by having a stroller you have the added benefit of being able to move faster when needed and keeping track when it is just crowded.

You could park the stroller in each land and have your 5yo move on footpower in the land. Or you could use cable ties it tie the stroller to the other when not in use; I've seen that done the last couple of trips and plan to do it on our Dec. trip. But, I would not go without a stroller, personally.

I would go with two strollers. We used a stroller for my kids at WDW until they were busting out at the seams. I believe my youngest was maybe 6 1/2 and my oldest 7 before we stopped using them at WDW.

I would probably bring two strollers if i were you..it's a lot of walking to expect a 5 yo to do. I bought a Chicco Ct for my 9 month old, but my 3 and 5 (just turned) fit in it VERY comfortably (we also brought our Mac double for our trip last week). Maybe consider getting something like that..its A LOT less expensive and the seat was wider and the girls said it was more comfy than the Mac we tried out at BRU...

We took our Peg Perego P3 with the little foot stand on the back for our 1 year old and 6 year old. The 6 year old did great walking- occasionally she would request to stand on the foot stand, but not often. I too, had feared that she would be needing to sit, but she was too busy and excited to remember that her feet hurt! :rotfl:

I have a P3 too and an infant and am taking a 7 year old (nephew). He is small and short for his age and it will be great relief. Especially if he gets tired on the walk back to Boardwalk. I hate whining! This is a great solution and I love my P3 anyway. It lays back, folds like an umbrella stroller and has a great hood. I jsut bought a clear rain cover too!

Good luck!

We had a volo for DD7 last Nov. and will be taking it again this Dec for her (just turning 8). She only uses a stroller at Disney. She is small for her age and Disney is tons of walking. I would ride in a stroller if I could. It was very helpful last year at MVMCP since she fell asleep during the second parade. No one had to sit somewhere and hold her. We just pushed on with her sleeping. Also was nice and handy in the bus lines when she had fallen asleep from a late night or was just tired and didnt want to walk to the busses. She used it off and on in the parks during the day- just jumped in and out- and when we were in a hurry it was a Godsend- no saying "come on and walk faster...we have to get to BTMR quick!!!" (ha ha) You will definately not be sorry for taking 2 strollers and the Volo is AMAZING!! Have fun.

My dd who turned 5 in May still sits in a stroller.

She & my almost 3 yo swap. Her legs get tired easily so I let her sit if she wants to.

I need to get a sit/stand stroller for the Big E because I only have a Jeep Umbrella & a mid-size & I have 3 kids & I am not carrying my 6mo old in the bjorn all day so my older 2 can sit.

Last year, we tried taking one mac for our 3 and 5 year olds to share. It was a disaster! There were constant fights over who got to ride and who walked, how long each rode for (he rode longer than I did), etc. After day one, we left the mac in the room and rented a double. This was the BEST thing we could have done.

This past summer (kids are now 4 and 6), we rented a double right away. No fights, happy kids, and happy mommy and daddy. It was worth EVERY penny for the rental.

I also have the P3 and love it, and am taking it to Disney. I definitely plan to use it to get from our resort (BC) to and from the parks, into Epcot, which we'll frequent for dinner, etc . . .

But -- I recently read on a thread that someone rented a double stroller and left their single stroller at the rental area, where it was secure! So, my current thinking (it could definitely change) is that when at the parks, we'll drop our P3 off at the stroller rental station (where I know it will be secure - I was a little worried about this, actually) and push around the double. Just a thought!
