We are going to go in sept 2007 I think. Ds will be 2.5 and dd will be almost 4. We will need a stroller. So do I deal with bringing one from home, through the airport, and buses going to the parks or do I rent a double when we get there. How much is it to rent a stroller for a week? If I bring one it will be the fisher price sit n stand (place for the 2 year old up front and a bench in the back for the 3 year old.) We haven't bought it yet but we are getting it soon it is on sale in the babies r us catalog. So my question is do I bring this or my double stroller or do we rent one and how much is the rental.

The eternal stroller question!!! I would definately bring your own -- it is worth the agony of lugging it through the airport. Actually, folding it down for security checkpoints is the worst. Once you get through security, you have a way to keep your kids contained and also a luggage cart if they are walking!! You can gate check your stroller and it will be waiting for you when you deplane. Plus, you will be glad you have one the minute you get to the parks, instead of waiting in another line to payout more money! It is also handy for around the resort and DTD.

If you don't want to deal with your double, you can always use 2 lightweight umbrellas. I would be leary about the park rentals -- they are hard plastic and I think a double is $18 a day (check out stroller info at allearsnet site - I am too new to post link).

I would also think about the sit n stand. I have found them hard to steer, heavy and both kids may be fighting for the comfy seat, especially during a long, hot day. Your regular double may be the best solution, so each child has a familiar, comfy, reclining seat (you may be lucky and even get a few naps). I think the sit n stand and regular double stroller would be equally heavy/awkward to lug around, but the regular double would at least be more comfy for each child for long, hot days.

If you look at the cost of park rentals, you are almost purchasing a new stroller anyway. The Maclarens are as fabulous as everyone says, hold enough weight to make them viable for older kids and fold up and carry very compactly. Lugging a regular double stroller on and off busses is no fun, but immediately forgotten about once the destination is reached.

Sorry this is so long..... I guess I have a lot to say about strollers. Good luck with your decision.

I have a Sit and Stand and am planning on buying a Mac double for our Disney trips. We go often enough to justify the expense. I know our 4yr old would get tired and what if he wanted to nap too? Not possible in the S&S.
The Mac's do have the highest weight limits so I know it will last a while. We love our single Mac.

I have been working on "the stroller question" for a while now - our first trip coming in November. We will be taking our Inglesina Espresso ( :thumbsup2 LOVE that stroller!) for our 9 month old - she'll be 14 months then. It is a one-handed fold/unfold, and very lightweight. I can lift it up into our car with one hand. It has a basket underneath. Unfortunately no cup holders, but that's OK with me, as you can buy them at Babies-R-Us and add them on. I bought the Kiddapotamus sunshade to fit over the canopy. The stroller can be a bit pricey, but I got a deal online for $150 (usually 200) . Before I ramble on any further, we are also bringing a simple umbrella stroller by Kolcraft with a small canopy for DD4. When she wants to walk, our DD7 can take a break in it. So many choices for strollers, I think I'll be wishing there was one for me!! :rotfl:

I'm for renting at the park. When mine were 2.5 & 5yrs we took our single, but ended up renting a double on the 2nd day since the 5yr got so tired. If your taking disney buses it is a PAIN folding the stroller and lugging on the bus. Our first night the bus was so crowded my DH had it up in his lap as there was absolutely no room to put it down. The rental is good all day and from park to park. Also I laid beach towels down so the plastic didnt get hot.
