Another stroller question...three kids.

We have three kids, ages 2, 2, and 4 (at the time of the trip, all within a month of next birthday). In the past, we've taken a Mcclaren double for the twins and a Mcclaren volo for the older child. We sold the heavy double. Our only strollers now are two Volos with bars to attach them together and a heavy double with a Joey seat.

If we were driving, we'd take the triple. But we are flying and using DME. We will be taking public transport (a ferry) yo the airport also.

So, what do I take and what do I rent? Take one Volo and rent a double? Take two Volos and rent a single? Rent a double and a single? Rent a double and find a glider board for the almost 5 year old?

I would take the volo for the oldest child and rent a citi mini double for the younger two. I would want the city mini's better canopy. This is assuming you don't need the strollers to get through the airport.

Thanks, forgot about the city mini's canopy. We are going in Sept so that is good point. Might even be worth the money to rent one for the older child too. He is large for his age, so I'm not sure how comfortable he would be. He is about 45-46" now (he was riding ToT at 2!).

I don't think the strollers at the airport are needed, or even a good idea. We will have two large suitcases to handle, plus backpacks. One stroller and three kids sounds like a fight waiting to happen. One adult can handle the two suitcases while the other wrangles kids.

I would rent the city mini double as well. If you rent a single for your older child I would get a city mini GT which had a higher weight capacity and has more seat room then a regular city mini

The one advantage of the volo is that you could fold it and bungie cord it to the city mini when it wasn't in use. But it sounds like the hassle of transporting it there and the lack of a canopy outweigh that.

I'm actually planning to rent a single for my four year old for our December trip (we have a bob--too bulky--and a lightweight umbrella--virtually no canopy and takes two hands to steer, so I have decided to rent). Is a city mini really a problem for an average size four year old? I found this comparison chart: http://blog.babygizmo.com/2012/02/b...2-vs-city-mini-gt-comparison-video-and-chart/. It looks like the GT gets you an inch to an inch and a half or so in extra seat width and height.
