Hoping yall can help! We are going to WDW in December. At that time I will have my DD who will be 2 1/2 and a new baby who will be 3 months. I am debating on getting a double stroller, mainly to go to WDW. I keep reading on here that a double isnt recommended, but I havent seen that with 2 small ones like I will have. Can anyone give me their ideas of me getting a double? DD was a premie and sometimes has respiratory issues and tires very easy, she will definately be using the stroller but is a big girl, 36 inches and 3o lbs.I am sure the new baby will be in it also.

We are flying in ( none of us have ever been on a plane, so there is a whole lot of questions there too, lol) and at this point not sure if we will be renting a car (trying to avoid it).

Not sure where we will be staying the first 5 days(is a trip win and all I have been told is a deluxe but I put a request for the Poly) and the last 3 days we will be at Pop.

I just am really lost at this point what to get, also I dont really want to spend over $200 if I can help it.

Any and all help is appreciated!

I think the problem with the double is getting through the crowds, depending on when you are going in December, they may be bad. Taking two strollers would be annoying I would think. Have you considered taking a single or renting a single in DW for the 2 1/2 year old and putting the baby in some kind of sling?

Here in the UK we have strollers (buggies we call them!) that are single width but double behind each other but still light weight - I think the make is Quinny, you could try and look them up online.
Otherwise I would take one stroller and try a sling or one of those back packs that you can carry a small child in on your back with pockets for travel essentials.

Hope that may help.

Sarah

I brought a double to WDW last time, and found it to be as easy as a single. I know a lot of people complain about them, but I think it must be the stroller they are using. I can't be that easy going.

The first time we went we took a single, as our oldest DS didn't use a stroller at home and then we had the front pack for the baby when DS#1 would need a stroller. First, I was surprised at how often DS#1 wanted to be in the stroller. And how much more convient it was to have him there. We knew we'd need a double the next time around as DS#2 would be too big to be in a front pack and too big for a hip carrier that much time.

When we took the double, it was so much easier on us all around than switching kids off. And like I said in the beginning, the stroller itself, wasn't that much of a difference. Most people who complain here are complaining about Gracos. I don't have anything Graco except our highchair, so maybe you should just avoid the Graco.

I would buy a double that is within your budget and take that. With two young children, they will both be more comfortable in your own stroller. I would actualy get it pretty soon, and take some walks or something BEFORE the trip, so that your oldest child is very comfortable in it. I would think at that age the convenience of having a nice stroller would cancel out any inconvenience of lugging it around.

Being pregnant myself, we are in the search for the 'perfect for us' double stroller. There are tons out there and you have awhile to do your research. Hey, you may end up back at WDW in a year and decide you need it use it again. If you dont, double strollers sell VERY well in our area at garage sales, consignment shops and ebay. So you could always get rid of it once you are done with the trip.

I would take into consideration that you will be carrying it on and off a bus, especially during the POP portion of your stay. So something somewhat lightweight would be a good idea.

We're in the same boat! I have one that will be 2 1/2 when we go in June and another on the way.. she will be about 7 or 8 weeks (depending on when the kids get out of school). We will be purchasing a double stroller also. I need one anyhow but will be purchasing the double with our Disney trip in mind. We always bring an over-sized regular stroller with us..so, big isn't a problem..but, I do want the lightest one that I can find.. I did some research and "Combi" has a very nice "light-weight" one. We will have a baby car seat in the back and the 2 year old in the front. Collapsing a single stroller and getting it on and off the trams or on the monorail is a hassle anyhow..I'm thinking it can't get any worse! We may miss a few monorails because we can't fit...but, we can't avoid that. What we do for our kids to have fun!!

Second, I wouldn't want to take 2 strollers since that means both of us would be pushing one. In my opinion, going with the back-to-front stroller would be your best option..once you get there, you'll notice everyone else has one too! Good luck!!

We went in Oct with DD's who were 3m and a bit over 2 yrs old. We brought the snugli to carry the infant and the double stroller for when we needed to put her down.
We went back and forth about just bringing a single stroller since we figured we would carry the baby all the time but we were SO glad we brought the dbl. There are times you (and the baby) get tired, hot, sweaty and need to put them down.

Also, since you mentioned flying...we had never flown, either. Make sure all the kids are out of the carseats, strollers, etc when you get to airport security b/c they send EVERYTHING through the x-ray. We had no clue and had the baby in her infant seat...we held up the line for 5 min (we had wonderful people behind us, though) trying to get her out...send each carseat through, fold down the stroller, keep the 2 yr old with us... :headache:

have a great trip!! :sunny:

Thanks everyone, we need to get a double and I just wanted to get an idea from others who have done it also....anyone have any ideas on a good double?

This is the one that I'm looking for.. It's online but I can't find a store locally that carries it to check it out in person.

Combi Counterpart Tandem Stroller

And, it only weighs 25 pounds compared to the 35-40 lb. ones I've been researching. It is a little more money though too..so, I want to be sure!

I have a Maclaren Twin traveller..its a side by side, but very compact. I have no problems getting through Disney(we have taken i about 4 times now) or any doorways. I have a 4 yo a 3yo and a 3 month old. Good Luck

I would definitely bring your own double stroller. I've done several trips with a front to back double stroller and it wasn't that bad, not really any harder to maneuver through crowds than a single stroller, and while a side by side is a bit wider, the Disney rental doubles are side by side so you will see plenty of people with those! Your kids are going to be young, you want them to be comfortable and be able to nap in the stroller, not just the baby, even the 2yr old. It's nice to have the big basket of a double to lug all your stuff around too! Now that my youngest is almost 6 it's been a few years since we took a trip with a double and I do miss the additional space!

Another option if you don't want to get a double-stroller: I was just shopping for a new stroller for my 22mo-old. I noticed Babies R Us had one stroller with a little backwards hard seat on the back for an older child. Another one had a flip-down pad on wheels for an older child to stand on.

We are going to Disneyland in a couple months, and plan to bring 2 strollers. Our older child is 5yo, and never uses a stroller, but based on the advice of DIS board members, we are bringing a 2nd stroller for when he gets tired.

Those "sit and stand" strollers" are great! We brought one to WDW years back for our older children. They are 3 years apart. So, it worked out great when the one in the back is a little older and you don't have to worry about more frequent naps and escaping!

I'm glad you liked it. We just bought one. My youngest is getting too big for me to want to sling on all day trips. Mine willl be 3 and a month shy of 2 when we go. I was considering buying a "regular" double stroller for Disney, but I fell more comfortable with it now.

We just got back from Disney. I researched many strollers before went and decided on the Joovy Caboose. We bought it in Orlando as it is not available in Canada. It was the BEST stroller for us. We have a DD2 1/2 and DS6 1/2. He is too big for any regular double stroller but sitting on the back reverse seat he loved it. The only problem was she loved that seat too so they would both race for the stroller to get in the back first. We got ours at Babiesrus and love it!!! It also fits a car seat on the front part and a child on the back reverse seat. The child in the back wouldn't be able to nap though.

Definetly get a double and get a side by side. They are very easy to drive and you will get more use out of it. We never had a problem at WDW with ours and we have a Graco Duorider. We love it. It was cheap - around$125- and has been to wdw twice with 2 more trips coming up this year. That being said- if I was in the market for a new double I would pick the Combi side by side because it folds up small. It folds down and then in half. They are just under $200 and are rated for 45lbs each seat. They are very nice and easy to steer. I know alot of people rave aout the Macs but for us it just didn't seem sturdy enough especially for the price. JMHO.

Lots of cup holders and it folds up then folds in half--hard to explain but do a search for one and look at the pics. it also has a strap on it so in the airport or in the bus line or whenever--you can VERY SIMPLY fold it up and carry it on your shoulder with the strap. I had a Graco front back double and took it to disney--I loved the double stroller and didn't really have a problem with the Graco but the downside was that it doesn't fold up really tight so with that and a then 2 year old and 4 year old + the diaper bag the bus rides to and from the parks were miserable. I would definitely look for a good price on a Combi or look at Consignment shops in upper class neighborhoods, you have 7 months to find one but I think you would be really happy with this purchase. And it holds 90 pounds--plenty of room for your 2 to grow.

I am in a similar stroller dilema. Our boys will be 1 and nearly 4 when we go to wdw. I was considering this stroller from One Step Ahead but what if my 4 year old wants to nap?

The side by side doubles look awkward! Yet, in saying that I am going to trundle off to search the www for the Combi. ;)

I know they look awkward but they are so easy to manuever. I really likes the combi side by side but can't justify it (yet!) because our Graco is just fine. As far as the sit and stand- my kids would be fighting over who gets to sit on what part! :teeth: Also- there is no shade on the stand/sit part. JMHO.
